4.Mother Teresa's Speech:Beautiful Smile and Love
The poor(36)Cvery wonderful people.One evening we went out and we(37)Dfour people from the street.And one of them was(38)Ca most terrible condition,and I told the sisters:You take care of(39)Bthree.I take care of this one who(40)D.So I did for her(41)Cmy love can do.I put her in bed,and there was such a beautiful smile on her face.She(42)Bmy hand(43)Ashe said just the words"thank you"and she died.I could not help(44)Amy conscience (良心) before her and I asked what I would say if I was(45)C.And my answer was very simple.I(46)Ato draw a little attention to myself.I would have said I am hungry,that I am dying,I am cold,I am in pain,or(47)B,but she gave me(48)D-she gave me her grateful love.And she died(49)Bon her face.(50)Cthat man whom we picked up from the drain (下水道),half(51)Cwith worms,and we brought him to the home."I have lived like(52)Ain the street,(53)BI am going to die like an angel,loved and cared for."And it was so(54)Cto see the greatness of that man who could speak like that,(55)Dcould die like that without blaming anybody,without cursing anybody,without comparing anything.Like an angel-this is the greatness of our people.And that is why we believe what Jesus said:I was hungry,I was naked,I was homeless,I was unwanted,unloved,uncared for,and you did it to me.

3.One October morning,the sky was clear and the sun was shining.Bethany Hamilton decided to go  (41)B with some friends in Hawaii.
As one of the best teenage surfers in the world,the 13-year-old American girl was planning to become a  (42)A  surfer.Cheerfully,she was lying on her surfboard,waiting for the next big wave.Suddenly,a big shark  (43)C  her left arm and shook her backwards and forwards.Bethany held onto her board and the shark eventually swam away-but it took her  (44)D away with it.(45)D,it attacked only once.It happened so fast that she didn't even (46)A.
As Bethany started to swim back to the beach with one arm,her friends thought she was joking.But to their horror,they saw the  (47)Cand rushed to help.
Having lost almost half the blood,Bethany's (48)D was a miracle(奇迹),according to doctors.But she wanted to do  (49)Bjust survive.
"It never crossed my mind that I might never get on a surfboard again,"she recalled(回想) later."I wonder whether I would actually be (50)Dto do it or not.But  (51)CI left hospital,I had decided that I was going to surf."
With the support of her family,Bethany  (52)B to get back on her board only one month after the attack.Her dad fixed a handle on her surfboard to help her paddle(划水)through and into waves.
When she returned to surfing at a competition in Hawaii,Bethany was  (53)Ain dangerous waves that broke her surfboard.As a result,she gave away her remaining boards and quit(退出).She tried using an artificial(人造的) arm,but it turned out to be  (54)B while surfing.
After  (55)Din Thailand in the 2004earthquake and helping homeless survivors who had lost everything,Bethany  (56)Aher decision to give up the sport she loved and  (57)Cto try professional surfing again.Less than a year after the accident,she won first place in a surfing competition in Hawaii.And all her struggles and efforts  (58)A when she won in a world championship years later.

2.My grandmother was always encouraging me to set goals and work hard to achieve them.She would tell me not to be a follower and not to set (41)Con what I could achieve.She (42)Abelieved that there were no limits that you could (43)Dwhatever you wanted.I would never forget the following story that she once told me:A farmer won first( 44)Bat the country fair for his huge radish (小萝卜)that was the exact shape and (45)Aof a milk bottle.Many were (46)Das to how the farmer was able to grow this radish that was the exact shape of a milk bottle.(47)Cone gentleman went up to the farmer and asked the question.The farmer replied,"It was (48)B.I got the seed growing and then I put it into the milk bottle.It had( 49)Aelse to go."You can use this story as an analogy (比喻) to life-our lives are (50)Aby the kind of surroundings we place ourselves in,the people that we allow to( 51)Cus,and the goals we give ourselves.If we only (52)Aand take no action,then we get no further.But if we (53)D,set a goal and take action,then our life takes a (54)Bshape.
Goals and actions can help us accomplish more in a year than what some people will accomplish in a lifetime.To prove this (55)C,read the biographies of 56Apeople and you will see that goals and actions( 57)Dplayed a big role in their success.
Remember the (58)Bof Mary Kay Ash,who said,"Don't limit yourself."Many people limit themselves to what they think they can do.You can go (59)Cyour mind lets you.Whatever you believe,remember,you can achieve."
In summary,don't put yourself in a bottle; in other words,move out of what is( 60)Aand secure if you want to move forward.

1.My father was a self-taught mandolin (曼陀林) player.He was one of the best string(31)B players in our town.He could not read music,but (32)C he heard a tune a few times,he could play it.
Dad loved to play the mandolin for his family.Nobody played the mandolin like my father.He could (33)D your soul with the tones that came out of that old mandolin.You could see his  (34)B in his ability to play so well for his family.
In 1957,he worked for Todd Steel in Point of Rocks.While working there,he was involved in an accident.He got the third index finger of his left hand mashed between two pieces of steel.Dad (35)D having the tip of the finger amputated.
After the accident,Dad was reluctant to play the mandolin.When I came home on (36)Band asked him to play,he would make excuses for why he couldn't play.Eventually,we would make him give in,and he would say"Since the accident to this finger I can't play as well".For the family it didn't make any (37)D that Dad couldn't play as well.We were just (38)C that he would play.When he played the old mandolin,it would carry us (39)B to a cheerful,happy time in our lives.
In August of 1993my father was diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer.About a week before his death,we (40)C Dad if he would play the mandolin for us.He made excuses but said"OK".He knew it would probably be the(41)D time he would play for us.He (42)B up the old mandolin and played a few notes.When I looked around,there was not a (43)A eye in the family.
We saw before us a quiet humble man (44)D an inner strength that comes from knowing God,and that lives with him in his life.Dad would never play the mandolin for us again.We felt at the time that he wouldn't have enough strength to play,and that makes the (45)A of that day even stronger.Dad was doing something he had done all his life,giving.

7.现在,人口老龄化成了一个突出的社会问题.假定你是李华,你从报纸上看到一则关于社区招募暑期照顾老人的志愿者的广告.你对此项工作非常感兴趣,希望得到这份工作.请用英语给社区负责人写一封求职信,信的内容包括以下几个方面:1.对这份工作的认识(如对本人及对社会的益处等);
2.个人优势(如性格、照顾别人的能力等);
3.你的计划(如怎样照顾老人).
注意:1.词数:100字左右.开头和结尾已给出,不计入词数;
2.可以适当增加细节,以使行文连贯;
3.信中不得出现你的真实姓名及学校等信息.
Dear Sir/Madam,
I have read your advertisement in the newspaper andI am writing to apply for the job.
I know the old people have devoted themselves to our society.So it's our duty to look after them well,through which we can get a good chance to understand our society and ourselves.The job can also help me know how to get on well with the old people.
I'm a student of a senior high school.I am easy-going and I am careful with everything I do,especially looking after others.My friends all think highly of me for that.
First of all,if I am employed,I'll make efforts to build a happy and relaxing relation with them.Then I'll pay more attention to their diet and physical exercise.What's more,I know how to give first aid in case an emergency happens.
I'm looking forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua.
6.MultitaskingWhat is the first thing you notice when you walk into a shop?The products displayed (展示) at the entrance?Or the soft background music?
But have you ever notice the smell?Unless it is bad,the answer is likely to be no.But while a shop's scent may not be outstanding compared with sights and sounds,it is certainly there.And it is providing to be an increasing powerful tool in encouraging people to purchase.
A brand store has become famous for its distinctive scent which floats through the fairly dark hall and out to the entrance,via scent machines.A smell may be attractive but it may not just be used for freshening air.One sports goods company once reported that when it first introduced scent into its stores,customers'intension to purchase increased by 80 percent.
When it comes to the best shopping streets in Pairs,scent is just as important to a brand's success as the quality of its window displays and goods on sales.That is mainly because shopping is a very different experience to what it used to be.
Some years ago,the focus for brand name shopping was on a few people with sales assistants'disproving attitude and don't-touch-what-you-can't-afford displays.Now the rise of electronic commerce (e-commerce) has opened up famous brands to a wider audience.But while e-shops can use sights and sounds,only bricks-and-mortar stores (实体店) can offer a full experience from the minute customers step through the door to the moment they leave.Another brand store seeks to be much more than a shop,but rather a destination.And scent is just one way to achieve this.
Now a famous store uses complex man-made smell to make sure that the soft scent of baby powder floats through the kid department,and coconut (椰子) scent in the swimsuit section.A department store has even opened a new lab,inviting customers on a journey into the store's windows to smell books,pots and drawers,in search of their perfect scent.

63.According to the passage,what is an increasingly powerful tool in the success of some brand store?B

D.a target that a store expects to meet.
