I just come back from Britain last week. I was luckily enough to be one of the student from different countries to visit the UK from Feb. 16 to 28. We paid a visit to many places, like London, Oxford or the Lake District. I learned much about British culture and history in London, where was my favorite. I also liked Oxford, in which I saw much more old buildings. The Lake District was beautiful, but it was pity that it rained heavily when they were there. The most excited thing for me in the Britain was that I made a lot of friends there.

My summer travel started terribly .I was at the Shanghai Railway Station buy a ticket to Hang Zhou. I was going to visit a friend here and after that I would go to Xiamen for long holiday. I bought my ticket but turned around to pick up my bag Form the floor and then I realized that someone had stolen it. Luckily I had all my money on my pocket, but the only clothes I had was those I had on. It felt very strange to travel with any luggage. It was Sunday yesterday. But Sally and I decided to visit the Xi’an Zoo, where is only four kilometres from our school. At nine in the morning, we waited the bus at the bus stop. I can’t swim so I have a strong fear of water. Look back at my childhood, I think that three reasons might explain fear. Firstly, I am not allowed to go near the water when I was a child, as my mother had an unreasonable fear of it. Therefore, I was taught to see to the water as something danger. Secondly, my eyes became bad when I was five. If I took off my glass in the water, I couldn’t see something, and this increased my fear. What’s worse, for a child I once saw a neighbor drowned.        Growing up is not easy．Sometimes all that is need is someone to rely on．

       For many years, she was Mum．My mother was a career woman and has her own problems to take care, but when I needed her, she was always there．Her strength came from anywhere．I don’t quite know, somewhere very deep．She was so strong that she would never break down, even while I went to her with all my little-boy problems and shout at her．

       Her strength made me stronger and gave to me courage to try things other thought were impossible．A helping hand is always stronger enough to lift you up．

It was 7:15 in the morning of February 8, 2007. I was walking along Park Road towards the east while an old man came out of the park on the other sides of the street. Then I saw a yellow car drive up Third Street and made a right turn into Park Road. The next moment the car hit the man while she was crossing the road. He fell down with a cry. The car didn’t stop and drive off at full speed heading west. I noticed the driver was a young woman wear a pair of glasses and the plate number was AC864. After two minutes later, I stopped a passing car and took the old man to nearest hospital.
