12．Bullies（欺负）are a big problem in schools．Every week，many children are afraid to go to school．They are afraid they will be picked on（找茬）by a bully．One study found that 52% of children reported being bullied at least once a week．Sixty percent say that they know someone who could harm them．One student was always being teased because he was short．He didn't like to go to school because he had to face the bullies．
Some children choose not to go to school at all so they can avoid the bullies．When they miss school，students fall behind their classmates．A new program is helping put an end to this problem．The program is teaching kids how to deal with bullies．This is helping more children feel safe in school．
One school principal is working to end this negative（消极的）behavior．Last year，he decided to let students know bullying is not allowed there．Students are now encouraged to report bullies and stand up for themselves．Those found to be bullies face harsh penalties（严厉的惩罚）．Students at his school participate in a program called"Be Bold．"In this program，students work together to prevent violence（暴力）．They do skits（小喜剧）and go into classrooms to talk about the problem．They give other students strategies on how to deal with bullies．

10．He almost didn't see the old lady stand on the side of the road，but even in the dim light of day，he could see she needed help．So he stopped his car and got out，walked towards her．

We asked Steven to share some outdoor activities that families can do together．Here's what he told us．
Going to a nature center---In State Audubon societies，there are usually smaller nature centres．Naturalists are ready to answer kids'questions so parents don't need to worry about teaching the subject matter themselves．
Hiking---Going on a hike is a great way to go outdoors and get some exercise．State parks can offer free paths to hike along and many fields to explore．
Gardening---Gardening is a wonderful family activity．Not only can the whole family get involved，but everyone can benefit from the harvest．Since it's winter，you might just start with a family plan for the garden．The garden can be a cooperative effort where parents can teach their children teamwork．Assign tasks to each family member．Who plans？Who waters？

The man who runs the ARTic Hall Hotel is Nils Yngve Bergqvist．He is also the man whose idea it was．He built his first hotel for an art show in 1991and he designed the present hotel-over 200metres square-himself．It took workmen about two months to put 1，000tons of snow onto a wooden board．As the weather got colder，the snow froze and then they removed the board．The whole building and everything in it is made of snow-except for the wooden front door．There's a theatre，a jazz club，a radio station and a large ice bar．As you can imagine，hot drinks are popular with the guests!The rooms have no doors，there is no furniture，no heating and everyone sleeps on…yes，that's right…ice beds．But the 800people who have stayed at the hotel this winter seem to like it．If you want to stay in one of the ice rooms，it will cost you about￡30a night．You won't be very comfortable，but you will receive a survival certificate（生存能力证书）from the manager!
When the winter is over，Nils holds his competition every year to predict the day that the hotel will fall．The person that guessed the day correctly last year received a large painting from an ARTic Hall show．Bergqvist's ice hotels are becoming world-famous and he loves his work．He's already excited about his next project-an ice hotel that will be bigger and better，he says．
