【题目】D

For ten weeks, in a great house on the island of St Thomas, Dr John C. Lilly tried to teach a six-year-old dolphin to speak English. Margaret Howe, an experiment(实验) helper, would live day and night with Peter, a dolphin. And they would eat, bathe, sleep and play together from Sunday to Friday, with only Saturdays off for Margaret. She lived her life in swimming clothes—with a coat on colder evenings —and cut her hair short so that she could get on with Peter more easily.

After a few days, Peter was becoming more and more interested in winning her attentions. He threw a ball against her shower towel to get her to play. As time went by, he only wanted to play ball with her and not on his own.

The problem was that, just at the time Peter and Margaret began to get on well just as two best friends, the experiment ended and the lab was closed. After a few weeks, Margaret received the sad news that Peter had killed himself by refusing to breathe (呼吸), and sinking to the bottom of his pool.

Dolphins may not speak English, but just like humans, they know all about broken hearts.

1Peter is the name of _________.

A. a doctor B. a dolphin C. a scientist D. an experiment helper

2Margaret worked ________ days a week during the experiment.

A. four B. five C. six D. seven

4The ending of the story was that_________.

C. the dolphin could speak English at last

5From this passage, we can learn that _________.

C. dolphins can’t communicate with humans

D. dolphins may have feelings just like humans

【题目】Should friends be different or the same? We asked some people what they think and this is what they said.

James Green

I like to have friends who are like me. I'm quieter than most of the kids in my class, and my best friend Yuan Li is quiet, too. There are some differences, though. I'm smarter than Yuan Li. She's stronger than me.

Huang Lei

It's not necessary to be the same. I like to have friends who are different from me. My best friend Leo is taller and more outgoing than me. We both like sports, but Leo is more athletic than me. He always beats me in tennis. And I'm quieter than he is.

Mary Smith

I don't really care. My best friend is Carol. Carol is very funny, and more outgoing than I am. But we both like doing the same things. I think differences are not important in a friendship.
