Because of the impact of coronovirus, we have been having online courses for nearly two years. I prefer online learning to traditional learning.

“Online learning" can arouse students' interest in learning. There are a lot of self-study time in the course, learning from each other's strengths and making up for each other's weaknesses. We have a good learning environment at home, so we can learn and do our homework carefully, and effectively improve learning efficiency. But for the students who are lazy, they can’t concentrate on their learning, because there’s no face-to-face supervision from teachers. Anyway, we should study hard to get good grades.

This means you can explore its halls, gardens and courtyards and learn about the stories behind the exhibits .

“During a field visit to the Palace Museum, it is difficult to visit some hidden places and view all the palace decorations in detail,” Li Bin, a museum lover from Xi’an, told China Daily. “But VR technology has made these experiences possible. It helps me beat the boredom at home.”

According to Xinhua, a total of 30 museums across China have provided similar online exhibitions to people.

Live streamed concert

Chinese video app Bilibili launched a series of music events for stuck-at-home people. The company teamed up with the yearly Strawberry Music Festival to create the Stay at Home Strawberry concert series, with a theme of “Hi, I’m at home too.” The series was live streamed free of charge from Feb 4 to Feb 8, on Bilibili.

During this period, audiences could participate in the website’s bullet chat, sharing comments onscreen in real time.

“Watching online concerts and sharing comments with others can give me a sense of community and fun of being at a large event while being stuck at home and away from friends and coworkers,”Manny, an Bilibili user commented on the website.

【题目】 Many Chinese web novels are interesting and imaginative. But have you ever thought that they could help people stop using drugs (毒品)?

Kevin Cazad, a 29-year-old IT technician from California, US, gave up his drug habit after reading translations of Chinese web novels, reported by People’s Daily in March.

He turned to drugs to reduce the pain of a breakup in 2014. But the drugs caused him physical and mental pain, even threatening his life at times. However, after starting to read the Chinese web novel Coiling Dragon (《盘龙》), Cazad became crazy with his new hobby, making him “forget” about doing drugs.

“I went home wanting to take drugs every day,” Cazad said, “Now, I prefer to read the novels. They are addictive (上瘾的) like drugs, but not harmful to my health.”

Cazad is not the only foreigner to become a big fan of online Chinese literature. In fact, Chinese web novels have recently been gaining popularity among foreign readers.

According to a 2016 report from Novel Updates, a website that translates popular Asian novels for Western readers, among the Top 10 most popular web novels, five were written by Chinese writers.

Foreign readers are attracted by the Chinese culture and history in the novels. “As a Westerner, the traditional Chinese elements (元素) and strong plots (情节) really attract me. Outside of the Harry Potter series, I can’t think of any other books with so much imagination,” Fernando Hernandez, a Spanish engineer said.

Though Chinese web novels are popular among foreign readers, some people believe they have no deep meaning, compared with traditional works.

“Some online novelists give up quality for speed updates (更新). Low-quality writing with repetitive (重复的) structure and rude language will not survive long,” Han Haoyue, writer and cultural critic, told Xinhua News Agency.

They also face problems with plagiarism (剽窃). For example, Eternal love (《三生三世十里桃花》), a popular Chinese web novel translated into English, has been accused of (被指控) plagiarism.

However, many people still think highly of them. “Chinese online literature has a cultural charm (魅力) and is easily acceptable to young foreign readers. It is a good channel to improve Chinese culture,” Wu Wenhui, CEO of China Reading, told Xinhua.

There were three big fish in the lake. One of them, Demo, was wise; another one, Jimmy, was half-wise; Martin, the third one, was stupid.

One day, some fishermen came to the bank of the lake with their nets. The three fish saw them. Demo decided at once to leave, to make the long and difficult trip to the ocean. He thought, "I should make the long and difficult trip to the ocean at once, the danger will come, but the other two fish love this place so much that they call it home and will stay on. How silly they are! Their ignorance will make them lose their lives."

Seeing the wise fish had left, Jimmy thought, "My guide has gone and now I've lost my chance to escape." He felt sorry for it and then thought, "What can I do to save myself from these men and their nets? Perhaps I should pretend to be already dead." So he did that. He went up and down with the water, helpless.

"Look at this! The best and biggest fish is dead. "One of the men lifted him by the tail, and threw him up on the ground. He rolled over and over and moved secretly toward the water, and then, back in.
