A. expressions B. contributions C. advertisements D. instructions

【题目】It was not long ago that I first learned how important having a passion(激情) is to life.

That day I went with my mom to drive my sister to the library.I was bored. Then,as my mom stopped at a red light, someone on the side of the road caught my attention. It was a man dressed in rags(破旧衣服).He was homeless. That didn't interest me,for I had seen many like him before.

But in some way he was different. This man was not sitting down with a sad expression. He had a radio in his hand and was dancing happily to the music. The radio seemed to be the most precious thing he had.

“Mom,why does that man have a radio even though he's homeless?” I asked.

“He bought it,” she answered.I was still confused.

“But if he's homeless, why doesn't he use the money to buy food or clothes? He wasted it on something he doesn't need.”

“Well,Sarah, sometimes food and clothes aren't the most important things. We need happiness, too.”

That man must care enough about music,so he bought a radio instead of food or clothes.I soon realized that happiness is the key to life.Without it,there's nothing to expect.A passion gives a person the feeling of happiness they need to keep going.

Since then I've never spent a day without thinking of what's truly important.A home,a meal, clothes—these things are not the only things that make up our lives. What's often forgotten is that we all need a joy and a light in a dark day.We all need a passion.

【题目】When I was about six years old,I was sure that space aliens had entered my bedroom. One peaceful night,I was in bed, trying to sleep.Suddenly,I heard strange voices whispering(低语) near my bed.I shouted for my parents right away.We looked everywhere but couldn't find anything.I tried to go back to sleep, but the whispering began again.I don't know how many times my parents came to my bedroom that night.I only remembered that none of us could sleep well because of the voices. As a result,I was late for school the next morning.

“There must be someone hiding in my bedroom, perhaps an alien!” I thought to myself.

The next night, the same whispering sound came again.Although I was scared,I decided to find the “alien”.我仔细地搜查了我卧室的每一个角落。Finally,I found it.However,it wasn't the alien that I expected, but an old broken radio in my bookcase. The radio suddenly began to work and the voices came from it.

Even so,that experience helped me to create a lifelong interest in UFOs and aliens.

When I was in Grade 5,astronauts were being sent into space for the first time.Almost every night,I would look out of my bedroom's window and search the sky for UFOs.I never saw one,but I did see lots of stars. They were really beautiful and amazing, and maybe the aliens would agree with me.

As a teacher,I changed a student's life.It was the beginning of a new term.As a new teacher in that school,I didn't know any of the students.A little girl was standing at the gate of the classroom. She looked very shy.

I walked up to her and asked why she stood there. But she said nothing. Then a boy shouted,“She is from Grade Four, the worst student in her grade.”I looked at the little girl. She didn't seem to be the smart kind.I understood why her teacher asked her to stay in Grade Three.I took her hand and let her into the classroom.

“Sit here. Now you are my student and I'm your teacher,” I said. She still said nothing, but suddenly began to cry.

I later learnt that her parents died in a car accident. She became sad and didn't like talking to others after that.

She learned very slowly.I gave her respect and never looked down upon(鄙视) her as I know everybody deserves(值得) respect.I helped her after school, and she was making progress little by little. As time went on,she wasn't as shy as before. At the end of the term, she seemed to have forgotten all her sadness. She was not among the best students when she left that school, but at least, she was not that shy and sad little girl any more.
