Scientists believe there are some things in the sky that we will never see. We won' t see them with the biggest telescope in the world on the clearest night of the year.
That's because they're invisible (看不见的). They're the dead stars called black holes.
You might find it hard to imagine that stars die. After all, our Sun is a star. Year after year, we see it up in the sky, burning brightly, giving us heat and light. The Sun certainly doesn't seem to be getting old or weak. But stars do burn out and die after billions of years.
As a star's gases bum, they give off light and heat. But when the gas runs out, the star stops burning and begins to die.
As the star cools, the outer part of the star is pulled in toward the center. The star turns into a smaller and smaller ball. If the star is very small, the star ends up as a cold, dark ball. If the star is very big, it keeps being pulled inward until it's packed together tighter than anything in the universe.
What pulls the star in toward its center with such power? It's the same force that pulls you down when you jump --- the force called gravity (重力). A black hole is so tightly packed that its gravity sucks (吸) in everything --- even light. The light from a black hole can never come back to your eyes. That's why you see nothing but blackness.
(1)What can we know from the third paragraph?
A.Stars can't die.
B.Stars can die.
C.The Sun is important.
D.The Sun is getting old.
(2)What do the stars use to give off light and heat?
A.Gases.
B.Sunlight.
C.Soil.
D.Gravity
(3)What happens to the star when it cools?
A.It breaks into small pieces and flies away.
B.It is so tight that it is like the Sun.
C.It shines more brightly than ever.
D.The outer part of the star is pulled in toward the center.
(4)What will you probably think when you look at the sky at night after you read the passage?
A.There is nothing in the blackness.
B.The stars shine brightly.
C.There are dead stars in the blackness.
D.The stars have no gravity.
(5)What's the best title for the passage?
A.The Sun.
B.Black holes.
C.Gravity.
D.Light.

【题目】 Leonardo da Vinci's(达芬奇) mother may have been a Chinese slave(奴隶) according to a new research by an Italian -Angelo Paratico. He has spent the last 20 years living and working in Hong Kong, researching the links(联系) b1 his homeland and China.

It is believed that Leonardo da Vinci's mother was named Caterina, who, according to some reports, was a local farmer. But Mr. Paratico's new work leads to a d2 explanation.

Speaking to the South China Morning Post, Mr. Paratico said, “I am s3 that Leonardo's mother was from the East, but to make her a Chinese, we need to use a deductive method (演绎法).”

Angerlo Paratico has s4 many documents(文献). He found that one wealthy friend of Leonardo's father’s had a slave called Caterina. After Leonardo's date of b5, she disappeared from the documents. “She was no longer working there and could not be found,” Paratico a6. Supporting his opinion, he said, “During the period, countries like Italy and Spain were f7 of slaves from the East.”

He said that there were certain aspects(方面) of Da Vinci's life and works which suggest a Chinese link. An e8 is that he was writing with his left hand from left to right. And he was a vegetarian(素食者), which was not common. Mona Lisa(蒙娜丽莎) is probably a picture of his mother. On the back of Mona Lisa, there is a Chinese landscape and e9 her face looks Chinese.

Mr. Paratico said the only way to s10 the mystery is to extract(提取) some DNA. But he said he preferred to let the mystery remain mysterious.

【题目】 There are different ways in which people try to deal with the problem of energy. One way is the greater production of common energy sources, such as coal, oil and gas. The trouble with these sources, however, is that they are not renewable.

Another way is energy conservation(节能), which means using energy more efficiently(有效地). In some very cold countries people build special houses to save energy. They place materials between the inside and the outside of the walls of the house to keep the cold out and the warmth in. The house is heated by the lights, the body heat of the people and the other equipment in it.

Finally, renewable energy sources are used even though they are often expensive to develop. One form of these is geothermal energy. In certain parts of the world, the temperature of the earth increases 30 with each kilometer down. At six kilometers, therefore, it rises to nearly two hundred degrees. To get the heat, water is pumped down into the rocks and back up to the surface. Heat from the earth is already used in certain countries.

1From the passage we learn that oil______.

A.is quite easy to produceB.is not used most efficiently

C.is the most common energy sourceD.could be renewed only by new ways

2Why are the “special houses” mentioned in the passage?

A.To keep the cold out and the warmth in.

B.To show the excellent skills of the builders.

C.To be an example of energy conservation.

D.To be heated by different sources of energy.

3If the surface temperature is 15, how deep will you dig to get a temperature of 105?

A.One kilometer.B.Two kilometers.

C.Three kilometers.D.Four kilometers.

4Where does the heat of the earth come from?

A.The rocks inside the earth.B.The water pumped into the earth.

C.The temperature of the earth.D.The water on the surface of the earth.
