10.Management Consultant Suzy Welch remembers the moment 14 years ago when her life"imploded(压破)."She was speaking to an auditorium full of insurance executives in Hawaii when she saw the faces of two of her children,then six and five,pressed against the glass door.She had parked them in a dance class,but they'd fled out to find her.She wrapped up her remarks and canceled the Q&A."I was trying to please everyone but pleasing no-one,"she says,"I had to rethink the way I made my decisions."
Author of the bestselling Winning (written with husband Jack Welch,former head of GE),Suzy Welch,49,has a new book,10-10-10,that details the strategy she created after the tremendous decision-making moment.The mother of four explains:"When faced with a vital decision,ask yourself,how will my choice affect my life ten minutes from now?Ten months from now?Ten years from now?
"Too often we decide something by avoiding the immediate ouch.But by looking at the middle and longer time frames as well as the short-term,we're accessing our real values.My business trip is an example.Had I applied the strategy to it back then,I would have declined it.I had other work travel coming up.I was needed at home.
"Many people have found‘10-10-10'thrilling.An entrepreneur moved forward with a new business plan but without the girlfriend,who didn't share his goals.A mum of a troubled teen finally got him to a psychologist after putting it off.Often,in our most stressful moments,we make decisions by instinct only.Or we ask a friend for advice.Or we make no decision and suffer for it.We can live much more deliberately by taking control of choices and really understanding them.
"Sure,there's still room for spontaneity(自发的行为).But when you look at things from three distinct time frames and assess the consequences,never again will you say,‘I have no idea why I made this decision.'"

7.Driving to the airport in the early morning,I felt excited.Although I was heading abroad for my first time alone,I felt cheerful and enthusiastic.I was spending the summer in Paris.
While looking for more interesting things to do besides sleeping and eating,I found programs for learning languages abroad,and jumped at the chance to study French in this city known for its art,fashion,food,and culture.As I arrived at the airport where I would leave my family,I still felt only great happiness.I excitedly made my way through security,leaving my loved ones behind.
My connecting flight was in Frankfurt,Germany,14hours from Denver.Sitting in a crowed plane watching bad movies couldn't dampen my excitement.When the woman next to me asked me where I was going,I happily answered and was pleased to note a tone of jealousy in her response.
But when I arrived in Frankfurt,fear and anxiety began to set in.Being in an enormous,busy building in a country where I couldn't speak the language was frightening,but as I found my way,I gained confidence.When I boarded the second plane and discovered that the flight was less than an hour,I was filled with excitement as I thought of how I would manage in a country with a new language.
When I stepped on the ground of Pairs for the first time,I was extremely happy and excited.I gathered my bags and joined the crow of people waiting for friends and family.I quickly had my first experience trying to communicate in a language that I had only practiced in school.As I left the airport,I looked for familiar monuments I had read about,but the landscape looked very ordinary.Then,with one sharp turn,the Eiffel Tower came into view,and I was finally in Paris.

3.For the last couple of weeks,I had been stuck in front of my computer working on a project that was very important to me.My every waking hour was consumed by the project and although I imagined that I would feel happy after completing parts of the project,I was confused to find that instead,I was feeling rather depressed.I tried a range of methods to help cheer myself up.I had a relaxing bath, cooked a delicious meal to enjoy with my family and even watched a lighthearted movie, but in vain.It was only when I turned to meditation(沉思) for a solution that the answer came to me:turn to nature!
The very next day,I grabbed my camera and a bottle of water and set off to spend a few hours walking in a nature reserve, even though it was pouring with rain.Within a couple of minutes I felt alive again. To be honest,I felt like a young school girl again and had to stop myself from hopping along the path singing,"I'm singing in the rain",a song I used to sing when I was a child.I think as adults we often try too hard to control our inner children and as a result we restrain(限制) our own spirits, which only leads to depression and stress.
Interestingly,it has been shown that people who spend 40 minutes walking in a nature reserve have a drop in their blood pressure levels, but this does not happen when they spend a similar amount of time walking in a busy city centre.
If you feel a little low in spirit and know that you have spent too much time indoors, relax completely, remove your shoes and let your inner child come out and play.

Let's say you've decided you want to eat more healthfully.However,you don't have time to carefully plan menus for meals or read food(41)G at the supermarket.Since you really (42)C    yourself to a healthier lifestyle,a little help would come in handy,wouldn't it?This is where a"choice architect"can help (43)I some of the burden of doing it all yourself.Choice architects are people who organize the contexts in which customers make decisions.For example,the person who decides the layout of your local supermarket-including which shelf the peanut butter goes on,and how the oranges are piled up-is a choice architect.
Governments don't have to (44)F healthier lifestyles through laws  for example,smoking bans.Rather,if given an environment created by a choice architect-one that encourages us to choose what is best-we will do the right things.In other words,there will be designs that gently push customers toward making healthier choices,without removing freedom of choice.This idea combines freedom to choose with (45)E hints from choice architects,who aim to help people live longer,healthier,and happier lives.
