For
the past two decades. New York has been an inspiration to other American
cities. Yes, New York had a lot of crime, but somehow it also still had neigh
neighborhoods, and a central area for walking. Lately, though, as far as the
pedestrian (行人) issues
go. New York is acting more like the rest of America, and the rest of America
is acting more like the once-inspiring New York.
As a New Yorker who has spent two years researching roads and transportation across the United States, 1 am saddened lo see our city falling behind places like downtown Albuquerque, where one-way streets have become more pedestrian-friendly two-way streets, and car lanes are replaced by bike lanes, with bike racks everywhere. Then there is Grand Rapids, Midi. , which has a walk-able downtown with purposely limited parking and is home to a new bus square. In Indianapolis, an urban walking and biking road will soon link inner-city neighborhoods something New York certainly hasn't tried.
We have lost our golden pedestrian touch in New York mostly because we still think about traffic as though it were 1950, and we needed Robert Moses to plow a few giant freeways through town to get the cars moving again. But the fact is that more roads equal more traffic. New Yorkers always find good reasons to drive. Public transportation is dirty, time-consuming, unsafe. Walking takes too long. The children will be late for school. But choosing the car is no longer safe ― for your children who already don’t get enough exercise, for anyone’s lungs or for the future of New York as a livable place. We’ve already lost a lot of New York to traffic. If New Yorkers don’t get out of their cars soon, the city’s future residents won’t have a reason to.

5、It is important to get the right boiler for the size of our house.
Having a large boiler in a small
house is a waste, but if you have a large house with a small
boiler
you’ll be left lacking
warmth.
British Gas has developed a new boiler, the 330+domestic(家用的) central heating boiler, which could provide the perfect way for you to change situation.
An experienced engineer can adjust the 330+’s output from 9kW to 30kW. This means the amount of heat the boiler is producing can be adjusted in line with the size of your house.
So, while you still have just two bedrooms, you could keep it on a fairly low setting, having this increased as you make your house larger to four (or even more) bedrooms, Whatever your future needs, the 330+ can keep up with you, preventing you from having to deal with the trouble and cost of having a new, larger boiler fixed at a later date.
In addition, the 330+ is very easy to keep in good condition and fix. Its digital indicator provides advanced and accurate diagnoses(诊断) of any problems. This information will enable you to have any problems speedily settled.
If you also find it difficult to work out exactly how much gas you are consuming on a daily basis, the 330+ can help you see immediately if you are consuming a low, medium or high amount of gas.
An independent research has shown that this level of customer awareness can reduce energy consumption by as much as 10%, so you’ll be doing your bit for the environment as well. And as the 330+ is produced in Britain, transportation is least possible, providing even greater savings for the environment.

Most
parents do not like their children's music. For example, today's parents do not
like rap music. But what the parents do not understand is that people who make
rap music have important abilities.
Think about the words in a rap song. Many of the words in the songs sound, the same. For example, each word at the end of a line in the song usually has the same sound. Say that a singer used the word" eat". He might also want to use the words "feet" and "meat" in the song. This is because these words end in the same sounds as " eat". So the person who writes the song has to know many words to find words that have the same sound and make sense in the song. Many people who do not like rap music do not think about rap singers' abilities and the clever way that they use words.
Another thing that rappers do well is putting songs together. Rap singers mix songs from older records with their own music. A good rap song has many different songs in it. So, a rapper has to know a lot about older music. In fact, rappers can mix different kinds of music into their songs, not just rap music. Many times, rappers will put famous parts of old rock and roll, old pop, or old disco songs into a rap song. As long as the rap singer tells people who made the older song, the rock, pop, or disco singers do not mind. If a rap singer does not say where he or she got the music from, then the other singers get mad.
Some parents think that rap is not really music. But that does not mean that the people making rap music do not have any special abilities.

A.rap singers often borrow music from older songs
B.rappers do not need to make sense for their songs

1、 It was a rainy day and I was riding on a bus downtown to go to work. I was 36 next to a man in a business suit and I paid little attention 37 we both got off at the same stop and walked to the same newsstand to get a morning 38 .
The man running the stand was obviously having a 39 day. He was rude and unsmiling as we bought our papers, which only 40 more gloom (郁闷)to my day. The businessman 41 my gloomy feeling and smiled brightly, 42 the news stand owner for the paper and for being open on such a(n) 43 to make sure we were able to get our papers.
As we 44 away, I asked this man why he was so 45 to the newsman when he didn't 46 his expression of thanks and friendliness. The businessman smiled at me and said, " Why would I let someone else 47 what I say and what I feel?"
We then 48 to go to our own work places. To this day, I still don't know who that businessman was, or 49 he worked. He appeared briefly in my life and disappeared just as 50 . But I've never forgotten the words he said and his 51 which seemed like a ray of light on a gloomy day.
That was a good 25 years 52 , but the effect this had on my life has lasted. I 53 had a chance to thank him personally, but the way I look at life has changed 54 those words. I have learnt that we cannot control people and 55 that come to us, but we can always control our response to them.
