【题目】 If you are in Shanghai and want to throw away a cup of milk tea, be careful. You need to follow these steps: first, pour out any leftover(残留物)into a wet waste bin; second, put the paper wrapper(包装材料)into a recyclable waste bin; third, throw the single-use cup into a dry waste bin.

Sound difficult? You'll have to get used to it. From July lst, people in Shanghai are required to sort(分类)their garbage according to strict rules.

Why should we sort our garbage? The answer lies in the increasing amount of waste we are producing. Chinese cities produce over 200 million tons of waste each year, according to China Economic Net. Most of this waste is buried in landfills, which may pollute the water and soil. Moreover, we are running out of space for new landfills.

In fact, more than half of our waste can be recycled. Recyclable garbage can be made into new materials. For example, wet garbage can be used to make gas, heat and many other kinds of useful things. But in order to recycle garbage efficiently(有效地), we need to sort our garbage.

Can't garbage-processing companies do the sorting job? They can. But that requires a lot of work and costs lots of money. Things will become much easier if each of us can sort our own garbage. Besides, the difficult task of sorting might encourage people to produce less waste. Do you still want to buy that milk tea?

【题目】 The world’s largest radio telescope was finished in China.

FAST is a five-hundred-metre telescope. It is also called Tian-yan (“The Eye of Heaven”), with a dish the size of 30 football grounds, deep in the mountains of south-west China’s Guizhou Province. The giant dish is built on a bowl-like valley.

The surrounding area has “radio silence” as there are no towns and cities within a 5-kilometre radius(半径范围)and only one county centre within 25 kilometres.

FAST is made up of 4,450 panels(面板). The second largest radio telescope is in Russia. The bigger dish will e able to pick up weaker signals.

The radio telescope is like an ear, listening to meaningful radio messages from white noise in the universe. With the help of the telescope, we can receive weaker and more radio messages far away in space. It will help us to search for intelligent life outside of the Galaxy(银河系)and explore the origins of the universe. “Any of its discoveries will lead to a Nobel Prize,” said Joseph Taylor, a Nobel Prize winner.

The telescope is expected to remain the global leader for the next 10 to 20 years.

C.watch the beautiful scenery of the Galaxy

D.help scientists to win the Nobel Prize in the future

3The sentence “The FAST project began in 2011.”can be put at the beginning of ____________.
