Though a lot of countries including China have sent much help to Japan, the Japanese are still in trouble, because many people were killed in the disaster.
And some earthquakes even cause tsunamis (海啸). It was said that 300 thousand people died in Indonesian tsunami as a result of the earthquake in 2004.
How awful it is when we talk about them! As natural phenomena (自然现象), earthquake happens just like it would rain and thunder. People can't avoid earthquakes but can try our best to predict and evacuate (疏散) before it happens. Building stronger houses and teaching people how to protect themselves when there is an earthquake are also good ways to reduce damage.
