【题目】阅读表达

As we all know, a healthy body is the most important wealth you have. Healthy people live a pleasant life and have more chances to succeed in their jobs. So everyone wants to lead a healthy life. And I suggest you do it step by step.

Get rid of your bad habits. For example, staying up too late in the evening is harmful to your health. What is even worse, some people prefer smoking and drinking a lot in their daily life. All these bad habits are poison to your health. You have to change yourself if you want to live healthily. This is the beginning of your journey towards a healthy life. However, it might be hard for you to make a successful start.

Make a plan and develop good habits. Once you have got rid of the bad habits, set a goal for yourself to form good living habits. For example, you can begin with doing some light exercises a few times a week or walking a mile after dinner. You can also join in other activities like playing ball games or going swimming regularly. Even if you can’t feel yourself getting stronger immediately, you’re developing habits that will help you on your journey towards getting fit.

Carry on your plan. The good habits you develop are very important to learning how to live a healthy lifestyle. So keep doing it with small steps. Cut one or two unhealthy things from your diet, or add some exercise to your daily training. The longer you do it, the better result you will get. Remember:

Rome was not built in just one day!

阅读下面短文,根据短文内容回答问题。

Can you remember the day when you spoke your first word? If you can, you are unusual. Try to imagine what the first few months of your life were like. I am sure you just spent most of your time eating, sleeping and crying. As you grew older, you were awake most of the time. It took your parents more time to play with you and talk to you. You watched and listened curiously (好奇地). You began to know that people made certain sounds to go with certain things.

Then you began to try making the sounds you heard. And step by step you were able to make the right sound for one thing.

Later you came to understand the secret of language. The secret is that a certain sound means a certain thing. One sound might be nice, but it can’t be a word unless everybody agrees on its meaning. People can understand each other only when they use the same set of sounds of things. Then they have a LANGUAGE.

After you found the secret of language, you began to learn words. Some words mean things, such as BOOKS, CHAIRS and SHOES. Some words mean doing things, such as GO and SWIM, and other words describe things, such as GOOD and DIRTY. Soon you learned to put words together to express your idea, such as “I want to go out and play with my friends.” This is language. By means of language people can communicate. So we say languages are means of communication.

【题目】 Agatha Christie is possibly the world’s most famous detective(侦探的) story writer. She wrote about 80 novels, and her sales (4 billion copies of her novels) was over those of William Shakespeare. However, behind her works was a shy woman whose life was often lonely and unhappy.

She was born in 1890 in Devon, the third child of Clarissa and Frederick Miller, and grew into a beautiful and sensitive(敏感的) girl. She didn’t go to school but was educated by her parents. Her father taught her maths through stories and games, and her mother encouraged her to write by her own stories. Unfortunately her father died in 1901 when she was 11, and both she and her mother were very sad.

When World War I came in 1914, she became a nurse in a hospital, which was very useful to her later work. Many of the murders(杀人犯) in her books were carried out by a clever use of medicine, showing how much she had learnt about them as a nurse.

She wrote her first detective novel, The Mysterious Affair at Styles, in 1916. And it was published in 1920. In this novel she introduced Hercule Poirot, the Belgian detective who appeared in many later novels. Her other main detective was Miss Marple, who was from Agatha’s grandmother and her circle of friends. Christie’s stories keep the reader guessing who the murderer is until the very end of the story.

In 1914, at the beginning of the war, she married Archibald Christie, but the marriage was unhappy. It didn’t last and they left each other in 1926. It was a very difficult time for her, as her much-loved mother had died earlier that year. Agatha suffered a lot and one night she drove her car and disappeared.

She went missing for eleven days and was finally found in a hotel in Harrogate, in the North of England. Agatha only wanted staying alone but the newspapers had given her a hard time over her driving the car and disappearing. She decided never to let them enter her private life again

She enjoyed a very happy second marriage to Max Mallowan who she met in Baghdad and married in 1930. Her detective skills were a help to him in his work in Syria and Iraq. By successfully staying out of the newspapers, she found happiness with her husband. Her best novels were written after 1930, and she continued writing until 1973. She died peacefully in 1976.
