How times flies! We¡¯re just leaving our lovely junior high school. I have so many great memories here of the last three years.

I am proud that our school has a long history and strong cultural atmosphere. My teachers have wide knowledge and great love. With their help, I have made rapid progress in my lessons. I¡¯m also very happy that I have friendly classmates. We help each other like brothers and sisters. I won¡¯t forget those wonderful moments we spent together.

I really wish my school to be more beautiful and famous. I¡¯m sure there will be more excellent and great teachers.

The big exam at the end of this term is coming. I¡¯ll work harder. And I want to be a helpful person like my teachers in the future.

All my best wishes to my school and teachers!

¡¾ÌâÄ¿¡¿ Good evening, parents, grandparents, uncles and friends!

Thank you all for coming on this very special day for every student on this stage. I know how proud you must be. As we have grown over the years, there are many steps and stages we all have gone through. From learning our shapes and colors, to getting our first progress in middle school, or how we explained to our parents why we skipped school £¨ÌӿΣ© because the headmaster called home. As we remember these days, things that we¡¯ve done will be with us forever. But this is only the start of our journey. To graduate is one more step we¡¯ve taken in our lives.

Now I would like to thank everyone who has helped me get this far. First of all thank you to all the teachers. None of us would be here without you always pushing our studying abilities to the fullest. My elder brother Johnson always said "If anyone is mean to you, I'll take care of it." My mom, thank you for always believing in me and putting up with£¨ÈÝÈÌ£©me. And last but not least, my dad, for proving to me that I always need to take responsibility£¨ÔðÈΣ© for my actions and deal with the results. Thank you all! I love you. And I will never fail to be thankful to the people around me.

Lastly, I want to give some advice to all my classmates! The end of junior high school is the beginning of a new life. Many of us may think, "This is as good as it gets!" but the future holds a bigger plan for all of us. We will make mistakes along the way, but the key is to learn from our mistakes and never give up. So good luck and congratulations to the class of 2020. We did it!

¡¾ÌâÄ¿¡¿ We don¡¯t know who first discovered a way to measure time. It was probably the Hindus, the Greeks, or the Egyptians. We do know, however, that more than 7, 000 years ago the Hindus looked at the sky and measured time by looking at the position of the stars and the sun.

The Egyptians used the water clock. This measured the time it took for a certain amount of water to pass from one place to another. The Egyptians were also the first people to make a calendar of 365 days. The earliest known water clock was found in the tomb of the Egyptian pharaoh(·¨ÀÏ)Amenhotep I, who was buried around 1, 500 BC.

The hourglass(ʱ©) was probably invented in the 3rd century BC. No one knows for sure. This was similar in a way to the water clock. Time was measured by the amount of sand that moved from one container to another. We still use this kind of clock today in the form of an egg timer(Ö󼦵°µÄ¶¨Ê±Æ÷). This measures time in three minute periods.

The first clock of any kinds to be used in China were brought there by European explorers. And it was in Europe that the first mechanical clock was invented. The word ¡°clock¡± comes from the Latin ¡°clocca¡± which means bell, and it was first used in the 14thcentury.

¡¾ÌâÄ¿¡¿The Rules of British Roads

British roads are some of the safest in the world. A study in 2018 compared more than 30 countries and found that 3.8 out of 100,000 died in traffic accidents in the UK.

This number was lower than any other country. So, what did British drivers do to achieve this? What are they doing differently? Here are some pieces of advice for drivers who are planning a trip to the UK.

¡ôPeople in Britain drive on the left side of the road. In fact, a long time ago people drove on the left in most countries, but now only a few countries have this. Don't forget that this also means you must drive the other way around roundabouts (»·µº).

¡ôBritish people feel that waiting should be fair for everybody. If you are in a line of traffic, then don't try to push past the cars in front of yours. This is called "jumping the line". You must wait for your turn; or people may get angry with you.

¡ôYou must stop at the traffic lights when they are red. In many countries, it is OK to go past the red lights if you are turning a corner or if there isn't any other traffic around. In the UK you could have a lot of trouble if you do this.

¡ôIf another driver flashes (ÉÁ˸) his car's lights at you, he is probably trying to tell you that he will wait for you to go first. British people don't like to use their car horn (À®°È) much because they think people who do so are rude.

¡ôIf you get in an accident, don't try to pay the police. The police in the UK never take money, and if you try to offer them some, you could end your holiday visiting British prison£¨¼àÓü).

¡¾ÌâÄ¿¡¿ What¡¯s the best thing to eat on a hot summer day? Many people would say ice cream. Yes, eating ice cream with some fruit on top is a great way to cool down. But think before you eat. If your body is hot from playing sports, it¡¯s not the best time to eat ice cream.

When your body is hot, a lot of ice cream may give your stomach some problems, and you could get diarrhea(¸¹Ðº). You can eat some ice cream after you¡¯ve cooled down a bit and had some tea. Just try not to eat too much all at once!

After dinner is another time people shouldn¡¯t eat or drink anything cold. Drink something hot instead, and your stomach will digest(Ïû»¯) your food better. If you love fruit, summer is a great time for you. Go to the market and pick out the best fruit of the season. If you want to stay cool, oranges, bananas, pears and watermelons can help. Also, try to eat more ginger(½ª) and gram(Â̶¹). They will help you stay cool and healthy.

In summer, bacteria grow very fast and make your food go bad quickly. Try hard to keep yourself and your home clean in summer. Always eat clean, fresh food. When you feel like eating a cold dish, put vinegar(´×) in it to kill bacteria. If you can¡¯t finish your food and want to eat it again next day, make sure you heat it enough to kill the bacteria in it. And when you put food in the fridge, make sure to keep the cooked food away from the uncooked food.

Stay healthy this summer, and enjoy nice food now and then.
