Firusa Khafizova is a pop star in the Democratic Republic of Tajikistan. Recently she got fined 5,000 somoni ($530) for celebrating her birthday (A) in the company of friends outside her home. She broke one of Tajikistan’s most special laws— “Regulation of Traditions and Customs in the Republic of Tajikistan”. According to the law, people mustn’t celebrate their birthdays in public places. They can only celebrate them at home. (B) It was reported that 648 people were fined for breaking this unusual law in 2018 alone and in total 3 million somoni ($325,000) was fined in these cases.

The law was introduced in 2007. It sets strict limits on the number of guests and dishes allowed at weddings, funerals (葬礼) and birthdays. Tajikistan is probably the only country in the world where celebrating a birthday outside the family home isn’t allowed.

It seems the special ban (禁令) is not welcome among the people who like to have a birthday party outside their homes. Many of them have used social media to express their displeasure with the ban, thinking it interferes (干涉) in their private lives. However, the government doesn’t think so. In (C) its eyes, banning public celebrations encourages people to spend their money on the needs of their families rather than on unnecessarily expensive birthday parties. Also (D) it’s a useful way to stop families from going into debt (债务) to host huge events.

1划线的句子“It was reported that 648 people were fined for breaking this unusual law in 2018 alone”中it作形式主语,真正的主语是后面的that引导的主语从句。“were fined for breaking this unusual law”是一般过去时被动结构,表示因为违反此项不同寻常的法律而被罚款。

2划线的句子“it’s a useful way to stop families from going into debt (债务) to host huge events”中it是形式主语,真正的主语是后面的动词不定式。 “stop families from going into debt (债务) to host huge events”表示防范家庭因举行大型活动而卷入债务。

3根据“the government doesn’t think so”可知此处“in its eyes”中的its指的是在政府的眼中in the government's eyes。故答案为the government's

4in the company of friends”

根据第一段“She broke one of Tajikistan’s most special laws”,和第二段“Tajikistan is probably the only country in the world where celebrating a birthday outside the family home isn’t allowed”可知此法是不寻常很特别的法律。 She got a fine in Republic of Tajikistan或者She broke an unusual law in Republic of Tajikistan。 She got a fine in Republic of Tajikistan./She broke an unusual law in Republic of Tajikistan.
