Sometimes, I’m asked: What’s the secret to success? For me, it’s love and focusing on making myself proud.

Here are five keys that are necessary for a successful career in IT.

Create a plan

Plan how you can use your love to gain exposure (接触) and experience.

I often recommend anyone starting out in IT begin on the help desk. It gives you a quick education on the latest technology.

Write down goals and important events for the coming years to mark your progress.

Remember that the technology you come across in your careers (事业) will change all the time.

Look for a mentor (导师)

It can be difficult to be faced with life decisions you may not be prepared for. It’s very important to your success to find a good mentor --- one who’ll give you sound guidance, and with the experience help you avoid pitfalls (意想不到的困难) and career dead-ends.

A mentor allows you to ask practically any question. More importantly, she can help you face many of the unique challenges women face in the traditionally male-dominated field of IT.

Make yourself proud

Others’ recognition is always of importance. However, you also need an internal compass that keeps you focused on who you want to be, personally and professionally.

Build your network

Surround yourself with those who’ll lift you up, support you, and be honest with you. You’ll be able to face difficulties and challenges that feel too large and difficult to overcome on your own.

In addition, no matter how hard you work, unless you’re aware of a chance, you’re not going to get a shot at it. Your network will open up chances for you and your career, both now and in the years to come.

Investing(投资) in people is never a waste of time or effort. It always comes back to you.

And then, give back

Young people need the help of a network as they grow in their careers. So now it’s your turn.

Love is contagious (有感染力的)

【题目】 Want to say “hello” to the persons you love? Send a postcard! Beautiful scenes, wild animals, silly pictures—you can find them all in one place. Where? On a postcard.

Have people always sent postcards? No. Before postcards, people liked to send sealed (密封的) letters. The idea for the first decorated postcard appeared in 1861. Sending a simple postcard with decorations would be a great way to send a note. Then in the early days, postcards with pictures appeared. According to the law, people had to write their notes on the front—on the picture! The back was only for the address. Several years later, England allowed a divided-back postcard. Then people could write their notes on the back left side and put the address on the right, the front is for pictures. During the early 1900s, the golden age of postcards, picture postcards became popular around the world. In 1908, Americans alone sent over 677 million postcards. Today, postcards are the third most popular collection in the world after stamps and coins. And more and more people send emails to their loved ones on Internet.

【题目】阅读短文及文后选项,选出可以填入空明处的最佳选项。

Since the great success of cloning the sheep Dolly, the cloning of human beings is no longer a fictional(虚构的) story but can be proved to be medically possible.1 I just want to say: NO! NEVER!

2 For example, they insist that if we could clone a new Einstein, we would make more progress on physics; and if we could get a new Shakespeare, we would enjoy more profound classic literary works and ... But how can we guarantee that another Hitler could not be brought back to life “thanks to” cloning? Moreover, can we give birth to a baby who exactly shares your grand grandpa’s genes? We would be confused by that relationship or kinship.3

Some scientists believe that we can get the organs we need to save people’s life from the cloned counterpart. But is it unfair to them? Even if they are not the creatures of nature but of technology, they are a kind of life.4 I do not suppose this action is humane.

5 It is another violation of the natural law. Life should be a cycle from birth to death and then rebirth and re-death. Every round of change can breed more varieties of genes. Thereby our human species can live rather than copying ourselves repeatedly, which I believe would lead to the final retrogression(退化) of human species.

A. I do not think we can be granted the right to kill them and take out the organs for our use.

B. If we can always replace our old organs with new ones, we will predictably never die.

C. Thus, the problem unavoidable arises: should we permit human cloning?

D. And in that case, we would find ourselves lost in an embarrassing and disorderly situation.

E. Some people maintain that it can save talents.
