How_are_you_doing_these_days?

I'm writing to tell you that our school is going to hold our first Micro£film Festival, aiming to cultivate students' creativity and increase the students' knowledge about making films. In order to combine what the students have learnt and their after£class activities effectively, it is required that films should be based on the classics of textbooks. It has been planned to take place in the Lecture Hall of our school at 3 o'clock pm on June 19th.

During the festival, you will enjoy many wonderful micro£films made by students themselves. Thus, there must be a lot of fun at the festival and you are welcome to join us.

I'm looking forward to your arrival.

Yours£¬

What was supposed to be __¡¾1¡¿___ fun climb became a test of friendship for two young people from Canada last Saturday. Jeremy Savage and Ian Marshall, both aged 17, went __¡¾2___(camp) with their parents for the weekend. On Saturday morning, they decided to climb the mountain by themselves while their parents relaxed at the campsite. After three hours, they reached the top _¡¾3¡¿_ no problems.

However, trouble began when they started the climb down the mountain. On one very __¡¾4¡¿_ (danger) part of the path, Ian fell three meters off the side of the path. Jeremy was able to climb down to where Ian was. Ian was _¡¾5¡¿_ (bad) injured and could not move. They had to wait and _¡¾6¡¿__(hope) that someone would come and help them. As the evening grew __¡¾7¡¿_ (dark), Ian told Jeremy to leave him and go back to their parents, but he still did not leave. Jeremy thought __¡¾8¡¿__ was not safe for Ian to be alone. The night was cold and windy, and Jeremy used his jacket and extra shirt to keep Ian warm.

At sunrise, Jeremy decided that the only way ___¡¾9¡¿__ (help) his friend was to carry him. So they started the long climb back to their parents. Finally, after four hours, they arrived at the campsite __¡¾10¡¿ their parents were waiting, ¡°I¡¯ll always remember what Jeremy did for me.¡± said Ian. ¡°He saved my life.¡±

¡¾ÌâÄ¿¡¿The rules about how to talk, eat and sit, which are highly limited, are observed in most Western restaurants and homes. ¡¾1¡¿ Many Westerners have no idea how to act at the Chinese dinner table. No forks or knives for them to use! The Chinese host makes great, sweeping arm movements that go over large sections of the table, passing over both food and friends alike. ¡¾2¡¿ However, it leaves many foreigners at a loss for what to do.

In my childhood home, dinner was enjoyed with low voices, and the topics that we could discuss were very limited. ¡¾3¡¿ If I had to leave the table to use the toilet, I had to excuse myself without mentioning what it was that I was going to do. ¡°May I be excused, please? I need to wash my hands.¡± I would say. My mother would say, ¡°Sure.¡± My father would often play a joke on me by saying, ¡° ¡¾4¡¿ ¡±

As for eating, we did it quietly. No eating noises were allowed. Everything must be done as quietly as possible. If any sound was created by eating food or drinking, it would be considered as bad manners!

¡¾5¡¿ He is to sit up straight with the recessive hand (usually the left) in one¡¯s lap holding a napkin while the dominant hand (usually the right) holds the fork or spoon. The only time one is allowed to have both hands on the table is when he is using a kife to cut something.

A. How one sits at the table is also prescribed.

B. We were not allowed to talk about anything that made listeners uncomfortable.

C. Can't you think up a better excuse than that?

D. They¡¯re completely different from what we find here in China.

E. Your hands don¡¯t look dirty!

F. The scene is fantastic.

G. In general they were all strictly forbidden topics.
