Late in April, a photo show was held in our school. |
|
It lasted a week and was a great success! All the photos taken | 76. |
by the students themselves. They were mostly color photos, but | 77. |
some were black-and white ones, presented our school life, the beauty | 78. |
of nature, festival activities and so on. All the work of art were | 79. |
at show in the reading-room on the second floor. Every day a large | 80. |
number of students went to enjoy them, but they were surprised to | 81. |
find the photos were such wonderful that some teachers were also | 82. |
present. Those whose photos were chosen the best are given different | 83. |
prizes. In the short, this photo show really made our life more colorful. | 84. |
We hope we will have much more activities like this in our school. | 85. |
It is really hard to imagine what it is like to hear that you’ve lost your job.
They called it a “black Friday” when the first 50 people were 21 without warning. We had been 22 by another firm. The demission(解雇)didn’t hit me right away, but I knew it 23 would. A warm-hearted boss whispered into my ear,“ 24 yourself , you will be on their list.”
The whole message seemed 25 . As a rising department head, I had learned to 26 well act properly. All my efforts and contributions(贡献)got me 27 and job satisfaction in return. That idea guided me through all years of steady advancement.
But the demission did fall. I could hardly 28 with it when the phone call finally came. At 45, with a child in college, I was completely 29 . Suddenly I found out that I was doing a poor job 30 myself, I visited different people, had various interviews, and
31 hours of waiting and answering the same question: yes, I was fired; no , not for my own 32 ; yes , I’m eager to find work ; no I won’t 33 just any job. My goal was to land a position 34 to the lost one. But nothing was happening.
It was cold, the job market was even colder. I was becoming 35 about day-to-day living expenses. 36 my wife listened patiently to my complaints and the 37 of friends was extremely useful, I didn’t want to 38 them or face well-meaning but unanswerable questions.
With anxiety 39 , I changed my mind and decided to try any kind of work I could find. Then one day, 40 was finally with me again.
