Millie and Simon find a youth worker's website. There are some e-mails from teenagers all over the world. Read four of the e-mails.

Hi, my name is Joanna. I live with my family in a small town. My parents are very strict. They disagree on everything I do. For example, when I talk on the phone, they always tell me to stop. I like talking on the phone because I am not allowed to go out with friends. It is my only chance to communicate with people. I talk on the phone in my free time. What is wrong with that? I only talk to my best friends. The caller's number is displayed on the phone so my parents can always tell who is calling me. Why do they still not let me talk to my friends on the phone?

My name is Irene. I like looking up information on the Internet but my parents say I should concentrate more on schoolwork. I am stressed. They say learning is good. Why should I only learn from books? I can learn from the internet as well. They say time is valuable but they watch TV all the time. I do not want to give up my Internet time. What should I tell my parents? Please give me some advice.

This is Tom. How can I keep a balance between friendship and schoolwork? My family moved to this city two years ago. I didn't have a friend here. My parents always tell me to study hard so I can improve my English and Maths. I know it is important to get good marks but I want to have a colourful life, too. Every day, I spend many hours studying I achieve good marks but I still have no friends. I need help!

I am May. Please tell me what I should do. My parents control my life! They tell me what to do, what to wear, when to eat, when to sleep and many other things. I am 15 but they think I am still a baby. They never let me go out with my friends. They do not let me watch TV except the news. What should I do?

Millie is trying to think of the lives of the four teenagers. Look at their pictures on the website. Write the names of the teenagers in the blanks.

Simon has read Amy's article about ORBIS in the school newsletter and has become very interested. He finds another article about the history of ORBIS. Read it with him.

ORBIS

In the past, eye doctors and nurses in poor countries could not study outside their own countries because they could not afford to traveland pay for their school fees. Dr David Paton was a famous eyedoctor in America. He knew that more than 60 per cent of blind people are in poor countries. It is important to train eye doctors and nurses in these poor countries to cure their patients. So in the mid-1970s, he set up ORBIS.

United Airlines donated a DC-8 plane to ORBIS. There was newmedical equipment inside the plane. It is not an ordinary hospital. It is a flying eye hospital. The plane started to fly to different poor countries in 1982. The eye doctors and nurses on the plane taught the local doctors new skills and knowledge. They also did operations together to cure patients with eye problems in poor countries.

In 1992, three generous people donated more money to ORBlS. With their donations, ORBIS bought a new plane, DC-1O. The inside of the plane is twice the size of DC-8. Its first trip was to go to Beijing,China in 1994.

A lot of people suffer from blindness. The ORBIS doctors found that 80per cent of blindness in poor countries can be cured or prevented. So it also carries out special programmes to teach people how to preventeye problems.

To blind people, ORBIS brings new hope and light. Over the past 30 years, ORBIS has successfully helped 130,000 people around the world. TO those who can see, ORBIS is something we can be proud of.

Simon starts writing his report. Help him complete his report.

The tiger in the hole

Once upon a time, there were many tigers in the wild near a village. They attacked everyone they saw. Some people in the village tried to catch the tigers but they never returned, so the people dug a big hole in the ground and covered it with grass in order to catch the tigers.

One day, a man came to the wild and found a big tiger in the hole. The tiger said to the man, ‘Help me get out of this hole! I'll never forget you. If you help me, I'll protect you when you are in the wild.’ The man thought it was nice to have a tiger look after him. He found a stick on the ground, gave it to the tiger and helped it climb out.

The tiger came out of the hole and said to the man, ‘I thank you for your help but I have to kill you, because you people made the hole to catch me.’ The man was very angry. He said, ‘Wait a minute, Mr.tiger. You can't kill me because I didn't make the hole. Let's ask your friends to see who is right.

The tiger agreed. First, they came to the bear's home. The bear said to the tiger, ‘I think you should kill the man. People catch us and put us in the zoo. They take away our babies, too.’ Next, they went to see a cow. It also thought that the tiger should kill the man because people killed cows for their meat and skin.

At last, they came to see a rabbit. The rabbit said, ‘I have to see what happened first. Mr.Tiger, show me where you were when you saw the man.’ The tiger jumped back into the big hole. Then the rabbit said to the man, ‘I think you should run now. I know people kill many animals but we should always remember who helped us.’ The man survived.

Shirley is drawing some pictures of the story. Put the pictures into the correct order. Write the numbers 1-6 in the boxes.
