【题目】 You must still remember Typhoon(台风) Hato, Pakhar, Mawar and Hurricane(飓风) Harvey. These storms have been harming Asia and North America during the last few months in 2017. But have you ever wondered where the names of storms come from?

During World War II, US military (军队的) weathermen named hurricanes after their girlfriends or wives. It was easy to remember. So after the war, women’s names continued to be used for storms. Finally in 1979, men’s names started to be used, too.

Now, the WMO(世界气象组织) is responsible for(负责) hurricane names. They keep six lists of names, with one list used each year. This means each name will be reused every six years. So, the 2011 name list is now being used again in 2017.

However, if a storm is especially damaging (破坏巨大的), such as 2005’s Katrina, that storm’s name will not be used again.

Typhoons are the brother of hurricanes, though they happen in the Pacific Ocean instead of the Atlantic Ocean (where hurricanes usually take place).

The new naming system for typhoons has been used since 2000. The WMO asked each of its 14 members in the Asia Pacific area to hand in a list of 10 names. Members include China, Japan and South Korea.

But instead of picking human names, scientists decided to name typhoons after animals, plants, places and even food.

根据上面的短文内容填空。

1During World War II, a weatherman in the US army would name a hurricane after ___________________________. To him, it was __________________________.

2Now ______________________ is supposed to think of all hurricane names. In 2018, they should use the _________________ name list.

3No storm will be called ________________ any more, as the storm with the same name in 2005 was ___________________________.

4Only the 14 WMO members in ___________________________ are required to prepare names for typhoons. That’s probably because __________________________________.

5This article mainly tells us how __________________________________. We also know scientists now prefer not to use _____________________ to name typhoons.

【题目】 What do you use to unlock your cellphone? A password? A fingerprint? Or simply a glance (一瞥)?

On Sept 12, 2017, Apple introduced its iPhone X, which has an eye-catching feature Face ID.

With Face ID, you can unlock your new iPhone by just looking at it. It is powered by a camera system TrueDepth in the front of the iPhone X.

When the camera system sees a person’s face, it uses 30,000 unseen dots () to “map” (勾画) the shape and outline of the face. A model of the face will then be created and stored in the phone.

The next time the person looks at the iPhone X, the same dots are mapped onto his or her face and compared to the stored model. If the two match, then the phone unlocks. This happens in less than a second.

Apple says the system is smart. If you change your hairstyle, put on sunglasses or makeup, or use the phone in the dark, Face ID still works.

Although the technology sounds amazing, there are still concerns. For example, will Face ID work for twins? What if someone uses a photo in front of the iPhone X?

According to Apple, the chance of others to unlock your iPhone X using Face ID is one in a million. Face ID can tell the difference between twins, but the error rating (出错率) rises.

Apple also emphasizes (强调) that Face ID is smart enough only to work when you want it to. It only unlocks when you open your eyes and stare at(盯住) it. So the phone won’t unlock if you are just glancing at the phone to know the time. It won’t work either if someone puts the phone at your sleeping face or your photo.

D.It matches the users’ faces with unseen dots stored in the system.

3The iPhone X users may not unlock their phones when _________.

A.they have changed their hairstylesB.they glance the phone for the time

C.they use it without turning on the lightsD.they wear makeup

4The underlined word “concerns” in Paragraph 7 probably means _________.

5What is the main idea of the story?

A.We can unlock a smart phone in three different ways.

B.Apple’s iPhone X can’t tell the differences between different faces.

C.People don’t believe it’s safe to use Face ID.
