【题目】 April Fool’s Day is on the first day of April. It is a day when many people play tricks(恶作剧) among one another. If you fall for a trick, you will be called an April fool.

No one knows how this holiday began but people think it first started in France. In France, the April Fool is called “April Fish” and people usually send cards to each other on that day. The Frenchmen fool their friends by taping() a paper fish to their friends’ backs. When someone finds it is a trick, they yell” Poisson d’Avril”(法语:四月鱼).

In America, people play small jokes on their friends and any other people on the first of April. They may point down to your shoe and say, “Your shoelace(鞋带) is untied.” If you believe them and look down to see, you are an April Fool then.

In England, tricks can be played only in the morning. If a trick is played on you, you are a “noodle”. In Scotland, April Fool’s Day is 48 hours long and you are called an “ April Gowk”, which is another name for a cuckoo bird.

Nowadays, after we play the trick, we say “April Fools”. Then the poor person knows he was fooled. It is usually done in the spirit(精髓) of fun and doesn’t cause any real harm(伤害) to anyone. Just don’t forget to say “April Fools” when the other person starts looking a little confused(困惑的).
