Advertisements can be made in many ways. People in the U.S.A. and Europe use them to advertise all kinds of products, services and other things as well. People use large boards, signs inside or outside shops and cinemas, printed mails or gifts to make advertisements. Besides, balloons and aeroplanes are also used.

An advertisement, however, should be properly designed to avoid waste. How is an advertisement made? An advertising firm (公司) selected a company designs and makes the advertisement by studying the information about customers and products. The designers put forward their different plans with pictures or photos. When the advertisement is ready, it is tested in a place to see whether it can make the product popular with customers or not. If it does, it will be used all over the country. Otherwise it should be designed until it is accepted by customers and market by finding out the reason for the failure.

【题目】The day was Thankful Thursday. It’s a weekly tradition that my two little girls and I began years ago. We always go out in the world and do charity(慈善) work. Last Thursday, we were going to buy lunch for the beggars (乞丐) in the street. I ordered 15 lunches from McDonald’s and decided to hand them out.

We enjoyed what we saw in the street: a surprised and happy person holding up his lunch bag. Then we noticed a small old woman asking for food. We handed her our final lunch bag. As we got into the car, she started to speak to us. “No one has ever done anything like this for me before,” she said with a smile. “Well, I’m glad that we were the first,” I replied. “So, when will you eat your lunch?” I asked. She just looked at me with her huge, tired brown eyes and said, “Oh, honey, I’m not going to eat this lunch. You see, I have a little girl. I usually can’t afford to buy her the food she enjoys. But tonight she will be so happy!”

I don’t know if the woman noticed the tears(泪水) in my eyes. I have questioned many times whether our acts of kindness were too small to make a difference. Yet at that moment, I realized the truth of Mother Teresa’s words: “We cannot do great things—only small things with great love.”
