   Once in a small village,a farmer borrowed a large sum of money from a moneylender. The moneylender,old and ugly,liked the farmer's beautiful daughter very much. So he said he would give up the farmer's debt if he could marry his daughter. Both the farmer and his daughter were frightened.

   It was a windy day. I had kept an empty,washed glass bottle on the patio (露台) for drying,which I intended to use for some craft (工艺品) project. Because of the wind,the bottle rolled,fell and broke on my downstairs neighbor's patio.

   Vegetarianism (素食主义) is increasing in the UK as more and more British people are deciding not to eat meat and animal products.    Is your mobile phone directory full of phone numbers of people you don't really want to talk to? Do you go out with people from work or school more often than with your real friends?    The shock of the recent earthquake in Pakistan has brought another shock ： the rise of a small,mysterious island,coming out from the water.

   In the aftershock (余震) of the earthquake,people living in Gawadar,near the southwest coast,began to see a strange sight.    These mud volcanoes are not rare. But it's striking because this one has popped up in a populated area,and not far out in the sea. However,it's not expected to last very long. Most of these mud volcanoes are swept back under the sea within one year.
