Exams are a time of great stress. This is especially true in East Asia, where students have come up with some interesting ways to make sure they can pass.

In recent years, KitKat has been marketing itself as a bringer of good luck. Pronounced as "kittokatto" by the Japanese, the chocolate's name is similar to the phrase "kittokatsu," meaning "surely winning." This certainly makes KitKat a good symbol of good luck.

In your all-night revision with microwave food and highlighter pens (荧光笔) before exams, you may have forgotten to take a shower. But South Korean students wouldn't worry about that. It's believed that washing your hair could wash all the knowledge out.

Around a month before exams start in Hong Kong, students in clubs, societies and classrooms will get together for "superpass," or gingguo (劲过,粤语俚语). "Superpass" is a lot of activities aimed at helping you pass your exams with a top score. The first part is the superpass dinner, which is usually held at a Chinese restaurant. It's important that students eat pork cubes with cashews (腰果肉丁), one of the main superpass dishes. The Chinese word for "cashews" sounds like the word for "wish to pass".

【题目】根据短文理解,选择正确答案。
Pollution inside homes and other buildings kills more than 4 million people each year. Many people die as a result of breathing smoke or from cooking over wood-powered or coal-powered stoves.
One way to reduce the number of deaths is through cooking equipment powered by the sun. Crosby Menzies, a solar power expert in a South African company, described his latest solar cooker called the "Sol-4". "It is four square meters of mirrors, six to eight meters in length. It is quite a large cooker. "
The "Sol-4" works by reflecting (反射) light from the sun off large mirrors. The mirrors direct (把……对准) the light at a cooking pan. Then the light heats the pan with solar energy. Within two minutes, the pan is hot enough to cook sausages and onions. In just four minutes, water can be boiled. That is as fast as cooking with natural gas or electricity.
The cooker is also much "friendlier" than other models because people do not have to stand in the sun to use it. And people can prepare meals without having to collect firewood or spend money on coal. Such individuals would be less likely to have breathing illnesses from harmful smoke.
At present, the cooker only works when the sun is shining. But engineers are working on a way to make it work without sunlight.
Each cooker costs about $ 2,000, which is a large amount of money for most Africans. To solve that problem, Crosby Menzies has created a non-governmental organization called Solar Cookers for Africa. It plans to raise money through donations to provide poor people with solar cooking equipment.

How do you like your school? Have you ever written to your headmaster to express your idea? Here are some letters written by students from different schools.
Luke, 14, from Jiangsu:
I will give the suggestion about our school uniform. In our school, we students have to wear school uniform every day. But the yellow and green uniform looks really dark and old. It can't stand for young and lively spirit. We can add some red and orange colors and make a new type of uniform. I hope our headmaster will think about it.
Danny, 14, from Zhejiang:
I have two suggestions for my headmaster. First of all, I think we should have more hobby classes in science, such as plane model making class and computer programming class. And second, I hope we can have more PE lessons or more time for physical exercise. After all, health comes first.
Sam, 15, from Shanxi:
I'd like to say “thank you” to our headmaster. About one week ago, I got a bad cold after playing basketball. Our headmaster came to see me after he knew about it. I really want to thank him for that.
Helen, 14, from Shandong:
I want to talk about the possibility of personal classes. Now many middle schools are trying the personal class system. I think there's something good for it.
