【题目】 Giving up studying in China’s top universities is truly surprising. It’s reported that two young people dropped out of Tsinghua University after they found they had no interest in their majors (专业). They took the CEE (college entrance examinations) again. Luckily, they passed the exams and studied new majors in Peking University. Their actions have come under hot discussion among the public.

Supporters praise the two students for being brave enough to chase (追逐) their goals.

1 We shouldn’t blame (责怪) those who are willing to take a risk and take the CEE again. It’s OK for everyone to choose their favourite major for a better career in the future.

2 The two students prove that life is full of changes and possibilities. They set up an example of the power of courage in changing lives.

However, those who are against their actions criticize them for being capricious (任性的).

【题目】 In the early 1960s, black people and white people in the US could not attend the same schools, sit next to each other on buses, or even use the same water fountains (自来水饮水器).

Those laws no longer exist, thanks to the civil rights movement (民权运动). People stood up and asked for a change in the laws.

On Aug 28, 1963, the civil rights movement reached its height with a march (游行) in Washington, D.C. It attracted around 250,000 people to the Lincoln Memorial (林肯纪念堂). At the march, Martin Luther King J. made his famous I Have a Dream speech. In it, he said: “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content (内容) of their character.” Those words remain famous to this day.

After the march, King and other civil rights leaders met with US President John F. Kennedy and vice—president Lyndon B. Johnson at the White House.

In 1964, following the assassination (刺杀) of Kennedy, president Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act into law. The law gave all Americans equal rights in working, voting (选举) and the use of public facilities (设施).
