【题目】(共10分)

The weather in Britain changes (变化) very quickly. One day may be fine and the next day may be wet. The morning may be warm and the evening may be cool. You may go to bed with the stars in the sky, and wake up with rain falling. (1)1

In some parts of the world, you can be quite sure what the weather will be like. You can make your plans for the next day or even for the next week. (2)2 It may be fine today and you may plan to go to the countryside tomorrow. But when tomorrow comes, you may find that you have to change your plan because it is too wet.

(3)3 When two Englishmen meet for the first time, they usually talk about the weather. When two friends meet in the street and they have no time to stop and talk, they often say hello and talk about the weather when they pass (走过).

Because the weather is so changeable, it is of course quite important. It plays a big part in the lives of the British people. (4)4 The British people have to change their plans often according to the changing weather, and this has made them good at dealing with (处理) difficult things.

All in all, the weather in Britain plays a big part in the lives of the British people. (5)5 Soon you will find that the weather is surely an important part of British life.

【题目】Spiders are not insects as many people believe. They belong to a class of animals called arachnids(蛛形纲动物). Spiders have eight eyes, four pairs of legs, and can grow a new leg if they lose one. A spider’s body is divided into two sections: the abdomen(腹部) and the thorax(胸部).The legs, eyes, and mouthparts are in the thorax section.

Most spiders have poison glands(毒腺)and sharp teeth. They use their sharp teeth to force poison into the insects they catch for food. This poison can make an insect lose the ability to move, and the helpless insect is then devoured by the spider.

Spiders usually have silk glands under their abdomen. They produce a liquid(液体)that is thicker than water from their glands. When the liquid comes into the air, it dries into silk. Many spiders use this silk to form webs to catch insects and to make cocoons()that protect their eggs. This amazing silk is also used to create lines that spiders hang onto as they travel to new areas.

Spiders live in almost everywhere on earth. The only places where there are no spiders are the coldest places, the highest mountains and the seas.
