【题目】 To encourage reading, a Chinese company placed over 10,000 books around the underground, in taxis and on planes in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. The activity got the support of many Chinese stars. The “book-dropping movement,” however, won little praise. Instead, the movement caused much criticism(批评).

Some books were left untouched. Around the underground, passengers thought the books were left there to save the seats. Some books were taken away by cleaners. People also complained that they couldn’t get to the books—the trains and buses were too crowded.

The movement led to a hot debate.

Most people thought it could do little to encourage reading. “I think the best result is that people take photos when they pick up the books and write a post in WeChat. After that, they will just bring the books back home and place them on their bookshelves,” wrote one Weibo user.

Some pointed out that, the Chinese stars who supported the movement didn’t seem to be reading much. Isn’t it embarrassing(尴尬) that the movement is supported by stars who don’t read a lot?

Murong Xuecun is a famous Chinese writer. He thought the book-sharing movement was not at all a bad thing. “In the past years, the Chinese economy(经济) has been developing rapidly. Everybody is busy with work. They don’t have time for reading,” said Murong. “However, just because Chinese people don’t read often, it doesn’t mean we should do nothing to encourage reading,” Murong added.

1细节理解题。根据第一段“To encourage readingThebook-dropping movement,’”可知,“丢书大战”的目的是鼓励人们阅读。故选B

2细节理解题。根据第二段“passengers thought the books were left there to save the seats. Some books were taken away by cleaners”可知,有些书被用来占座,有些书被清洁工拿走了,因此AB两项均是“丢书大战”导致的结果,故排除。

My interest in cooking started when I was 11, partly thanks to my mother. She didn’t really like cooking and when she did cook, I didn’t like her food. Once I was watching something about cooking on TV and I thought I could do this, so I went to the bookstore and looked for the biggest cookbook I could find.

During a year, I had produced most of its recipes (食谱)and was ready for a bigger challenge. I wanted to create my own dishes and I started cooking for more people than just my family. To my joy, my parents allowed me to build a test kitchen. I did much cooking to test my dishes in it and my skill improved quickly. Later, my mom and I set up a dinner club that organized monthly events inside my home. Now as a teen chef(主厨), I have also cooked in top-class restaurants around the country.
