Sometime in the next century, the familiar early-newspaper on the front door will disappear. And instead of reading your newspaper, it will read to you. You’ll get up and turn on the computer newspaper just like switching on the TV. An electronic voice will tell stories about the latest events, guided by a program that selects the type of news you want. You’ll even get to choose the kind of voice you want to hear. Want more information on the brief story? A simple touch makes the entire text appear. Save it in your own personal computer if you like. These are among the predictions from communication experts working on the newspapers of the future. Pictured as part of broader home-based media and entertainment systems, computer newspapers would unite print and broadcast reporting, offering news and analysis with video images of news events.

Most of the technology is available now, but making more people believe that they don’t need paper to read a newspaper is the next step. But resistance to computer newspaper may be stronger from within journalism. Since it is such a cultural change, it may be that the present generation of journalists and publishers will have to die off before the next generation realize that the newspaper industry is no longer a newspaper industry. Technology is making the end of traditional newspapers unavoidable.

Despite technological advances, it could take decades to replace newsprint with computer screens. It might take 30 to 40 years to complete the changeover because people need to buy computers and because newspapers have established financial interests in the paper industry.

72.The best title for this passage is .

    A.Computer newspapers are well liked

    B.Newspapers are out of fashion

    C.New communication technology is coming

D.Newspapers will likely be on the computer

73.It might take 30 to 40 years for computer newspapers to replace traditional newspapers, because .

A.it is technologically impossible now. B.computer newspapers are too expensive

C.there is strong resistance from people D.traditional newspapers are easy to read

74.Which of the following is NOT an advantage of computer newspapers?

A.They are cheaper than traditional newspapers.

B.They are very convenient to use.

C.You can get more information from them quickly.

D.You can easily keep information for future use.

75.We can infer from the passage that .

    A.all technological changes are good

    B.people always resist new things

C.it takes time for new technologies to replace old ones

D.traditional newspapers are here to stay for another century

Parents often believe that they have a good relationship with their teenagers .But last summer, Joanna and Henry noticed a change in their older son : suddenly he seemed to be talking far more to his friends than to his parents . “The door to his room is always shut,” Joanna noted .

Tina and Mark noticed similar changes in their 14-year-old daughter. “She used to cuddle up (蜷伏) with me on the sofa and talk .” Said Mark. “Now we joke that she does this only when she wants something. Sometimes she wants to be treated like a little girl and sometimes like a young lady. The problem is figuring out which time is which.”

Before age11, children like to tell their parents what’s on their minds. “In fact , parents are first on the list ,” said Michael Riera , author of Uncommon Sense for Parents with Teenagers. “This completely changes during the ten years,” Riera explained. “They talk to their friends first, then maybe their teachers, and their parents last.”

Parents who know what’s going on in their teenagers’ lives are in the best position to help them . To break down the wall of silence, parents should create chances to understand what their children want to say, and try to find ways to talk and write to them. And they must give their children a mental break, for children also need freedom, though young. Another thing parents should remember is that to be a friend, not a manager, with their children is a better way to know them.

A.Their daughter isn’t as lovely as before

    B.They can’t read their daughter’s mind exactly

C.They don’t know what to say to their daughter

D.Their daughter talks with them only when she needs help

62.Which of the following best explains “the wall of silence” in the last paragraph ?

A.Teenagers talk a lot with their friends.

B.Teenagers do not want to understand their parents.

C.Teenagers do not talk much with their parents.

D.Teenagers talk little about their own lives.

63.What can be learned from the passage ?

A.Parents are unhappy with their growing children.

B.Parents have suitable ways to talk with their teenagers.

C.Parents should be patient with their silent teenagers.

D.Parents should try to understand their teenagers.
