2.Over time I have been changed quite a lot.I began (56)as a calculating machine in 1642.It took nearly two hundred years(57)before I was built as an analytical machine.Then in 1936Alan Turing wrote a book and built a universal machine to solve any difficult mathematical problems.From then on,I grew rapidly both in sizes and brainpower.By the 1970s,I (58)had grown (grow)as large as a room and I wonder if I would grow any larger.(59)However,this reality also worried my designers.Luckily,(60)with  time going by,I have been made smaller.And I (61)have been used (use) in offices and homes since the 1970s.
These changes would not be possible without my improved memory,(62)which became so large that I couldn't believe it.In the early1960s,they gave me a family(63)connected(connect) by a network,enabling us to share my knowledge with others.Since the 1970s,many new (64)applications (apply) have been found for me and I have become important in many fields.I am now (65)truly (true) filled with happiness that I am a devoted friend and helper of the human race.

61.have been used;考查时态和语态.句中use与主语I构成动宾关系,要用被动语态;时间状语since the 1970s表示从过去到现在,是现在完成时态的用法,因此use要用现在完成时态的被动语态.
62.which;考查连词.句中became so large that I couldn't believe it修饰名词memory,是一个定语从句;从句缺少主语,且先行词memory指物,要用which来引导.

8."YOUR password has expired (过期),"a message said on my screen,with instructions for changing it.Coming up with a new code doesn't seem like a big deal,unless you work at my company,where we have to change it monthly,using at least one uppercase (大写的) character,one lowercase character,one symbol,and one number.Oh,the whole password can't be fewer than eight characters.And I can't use any of the same passwords I've used in the past three months.
Suddenly I was furious.What didn't make it any better was that I was deeply depressed after my recent divorce.Disbelief about what she had done to me was all I thought about every day.
I remembered a tip I'd heard from my former boss.He'd said:"I'm going to use a password to change my life."
I couldn't focus on getting things done in my current mood.There were clear signs of what I needed to do to get control of my life again.
My password became the sign.My password reminded me that I shouldn't let myself be a victim of my recent breakup and that I was strong enough to do something about it.
I made my password Forgive@h3r.

One month later,my dear Exchange server asked me yet again to reset my password.I thought about the next thing that I had to get done.
My password became Quit@smoking4ever.
I quit smoking overnight.
This password was a painful one to type during that month,but doing it helped me to yell at myself in my mind as I typed that statement.It motivated me to follow my monthly goal.
One month later,my password became Save4trip@thailand.
Guess where I went three months later:Thailand.
Seeing how these reminders helped to achieve my goals kept me motivated and excited.While it's sometimes difficult to come up with your next goal,keeping at it brings great results.

10.Driving to the airport in the early morning,I felt excited.Although I was heading abroad for my first time alone,I felt cheerful and enthusiastic.I was spending the summer in Paris.
While looking for more interesting things to do besides sleeping and eating,I found programs for learning languages abroad, and jumped at the chance to study French in this city known for its art, fashion, food and culture. As I arrived at the airport where I would leave my family,I still felt only great happiness.I excitedly made my way through security, leaving my loved ones behind.
My connecting flight was in Frankfurt,Germany,14 hours from Denver.Sitting in a crowded plane watching bad movies couldn't dampen my excitement. When the woman next to me asked me where I was going,I happily answered and was pleased to note a tone of jealousy in her response.
But when I arrived in Frankfurt, fear and anxiety began to set in.Being in an enormous, busy building in a country where I couldn't speak the language was frightening, but as I found my way,I gained confidence. When I boarded the second plane and discovered that the flight was less than an hour,I was filled with excitement as I thought of how I would manage in a country with a new language.
When I stepped on the ground of Pairs for the first time,I was extremely happy and excited.I gathered my bags and joined the crowd of people waiting for friends and family.I quickly had my first experience trying to communicate in a language that I had only practiced in school. As I left the airport,I looked for familiar monuments I had read about, but the landscape looked very ordinary. Then, with one sharp turn, the Eiffel Tower came into view, and I was finally in Pairs.

17.While there are some unpleasant people in the world, let's not forget that most people are friendly! If you find someone who likes the same restaurants as you or who is also crazy about"Harry Potter",then feel free to talk the night away!Just keep the conversation light and about your common interests. If a topic is brought up that doesn't sit well with you, keep in mind that you are always in control.Ignore your manners at this time!
Do stay open minded.Sometimes chatting with strangers can turn into a close bond-or just another person you can turn to for a laugh. But when typing away in your computer,it's easy to get carried away and to want to tell your new friend all about yourself.Keep the personal details as secret, and instead talk about fun hobbies or the latest episode(一集)of"The Good Wife".If Stranger Sally is asking what you look like, time to put up the red flag.
It is never necessary for someone to know what you look like.
Always listen to your gut(直觉).If something inside you is telling you something isn't right,it probably isn't.Pay attention to how your body responds to certain people online.Remember, you never really know who you are talking to just by looking at a computer screen name,so downloading anything is an absolute no.

12.There is an island called Kitava, way out there in the Pacific Ocean,in the Milne Bay Province of Papua New Guinea. It is one of the four main Trobriand Islands with a total population of 12,000 native residents.Rich with culture, surrounded on all sides by clear blue water and abundant rainforest,Kitava is as apealing as it is remote. But it has more to offer than good views.
As Byrdie reports,Kitava is also home to a people whose diet and nutritional habits remain healthy, untouched by Western influence.A lifetime of not knowing the sweet, sweet sensation of the salt from a potato chip hitting the roof of your mouth has done more than just spare Kitavans from illnesses like diabetes and cardiovascular disease; it's also given them a lifetime of smooth,acne(痤疮)-free skin.
In a study of l',200 subjects-including 300 teens and young adults-conducted by a team led by medical doctor and professor Steffan Lindeberg over 843 days, not one breakout was reported. They also found that genetics played little to no role in the results.
In fact,the average Kitavan diet is fairly common.It's simple,with no"miracle fruit"or"rare nut"to speak of,and Kitavans don't even exercise much.That diet consists mainly of yams( 山荮),sweet potatoes,and taro (芋头),local fruits (namely coconut),fish,and vegetables.
But if you're already pulling out your suitcases and drafting a resignation letter to your boss, you might want to slow your step. For one thing, the closest airport is over 700 miles away from the island,so good luck getting there. And consider this:do you really want to move somewhere where you'll be the only person with acne until the diet kicks in?I don't think so.
