Be involved.Parents need to be involved in their teen's work.(31)EWhat they look for is your presence-to talk,to cry,or simply to sit with them quietly.Communicate openly with your teen.Encourage your teen to express her worries and fears, but don't let her focus on those fears.
Help them get organized.(32)FTogether,you and your teen can work out a time-table in which she can study for what she knows will be on the test.
Provide a calm setting.Help your teen set up a quiet place to study and protect her privacy.Give them a nutritious diet.It is important for your teen to eat a healthy, balanced diet during exam times to focus and do her best.(33)BIf this happens, encourage your teen to eat light meals or sandwiches.A healthy diet, rather than junk food,is best for reducing stress.(34)D
Persuade your teen ager to get some sleep and/or do something active when she needs a real break from studying.Making time for relaxation, fun, and exercise are all important in reducing stress.Help your teen balance her time so that she will feel comfortable taking time out from studying to spend time with friends or rest.

15.Researchers with the University of Cambridge say they have the first real evidence of a new state of matter,some 40 years after it was first theorized.
Known as"quantum spin liquid(量子旋转水)",the matter state causes normally unbreakable electrons to break into pieces called"Majorana fermions."These fermions are an important discovery.Physicists believe the material is vital to further develop quantum computing.Computers employing Majorana femuons would be able to carry out calculations beyond the scale of modern computers quickly,they say.
Quantum spin liquid explains some of the eccentric behaviors inside magnetic(磁性的)materials.In these materials,the electrons should behave like small bar magnets,all adjusting towards magnetic north when a material is cooled.But not all magnetic materials do this-if the material contains quantum spin liquid,the electrons don't all line up and become involved.
"Until recently,we didn't even know what the experimental fingerprints of a quantum spin liquid would look like,"researcher Dr.Dmitry Kovrizhin says."That created a challenge for the researchers,so they decided to employ neutron scattering(神经扫描)techniques to look for evidence of break".What they found surprised them.The features matched nearly exactly with quantum spin liquid models theorized by physicist Phil Anderson in 1973.The results of their breakthrough were then published in the scientific journal Nature Materials on Monday.
Don't get too excited just yet on its applications,though.Kovirzhin's work is only the beginning and as we've seen with quantum computing there is a lot of work to be done.But it's still exciting regardless.
"It's an important step for our understanding of quantum matter,"Kovrizhin says."It's fun to have another new quantum state that we've never seen before-it presents us with new possibilities to try new things."

5.A few years ago it was popular to speak of a generation gap,a disagreement between young people and their elders.Parents said that children did not show them proper respect and obedience (服从),while children complained (抱怨) that their parents did not understand them at all.What had gone wrong?Why had the generation gap suddenly appeared?Actually the generation gap has been around for a long time.Many people argue that a gap is built into the fabric (结构) of our society.
One important cause of the generation gap is the chance that young people have to choose their own ways of life.In more traditional societies,when children grow up,they are expected to live in the same area as their parents,to marry people that their parents know and agree to,and to continue the family occupation (职业).In our society,young people often travel great distances for their education,move out of the family home at an early age,marry or live with people whom their parents have never met,and choose occupations different from those of their parents.
In our easily changing society,parents often expect their children to do better than they did:to find better jobs,to make more money,and to do all the things that they were unable to do.Often,however,the strong desire that parents have for their children are another cause of the disagreement between them.Often,they discover that they have very little in common with each other.
Finally,the speed at which changes take place in our society is another cause of the gap between the generations.In a traditional culture,elderly people are valued for their wisdom,but in our society the knowledge of a lifetime may become out of date overnight.The young and the old seem to live in two very different worlds,separated by different skills and abilities.
No doubt,the generation gap will continue to be a feature (特点) of American life for some time to come.Its causes are rooted in the freedom and changes of our society,and in the rapid speed at which society changes.

5.The main idea of the first paragraph is thatB.
A.the generation gap suddenly appeared
B.the generation gap is a feature of modern social life

C.The generation gap is partly caused by the older generation.
D.The generation gap does not exist in American society.
7.Child raising is probably one of the most difficult jobs for people to do all over the world.Since babies do not come with child raising manuals(指南),couples,especially future mothers,have to learn from their mothers,aunts,mothers-in-law,or any other relative who is close to them.
As children grow up,parents have to find reasonable ways in order to help their children,advise them,punish them,lead them to achievements,and teach them.Sometimes children under ten may behave inappropriately.For example,they learn to say offensive words and they show no respect to their relatives.I think parents in these cases should punish their children in a reasonable way.Children must know those kinds of attitudes are not good at all.
There are many aspects which influence parents in this hard job, for example, the culture in which they live, the economic situation in their society, and the religious environment.
One group consists of people who don't have economical resources or education.In this group,people get married when they are teenagers.Their Children are taken to their grandparents'homes,so the job of child raising is done by grandparents instead of the real parents.If the grandparents are on the sidewalks selling newspapers,cigarettes,or magazines,the children will be like them,too.Some of them even end u being wallet thieves,gang members and drug users.
Other groups of people are hard workers or well-educated.The children grow up in their parents'homes and are disciplined and punished differently.They learn to respect other people,and they are led to achieve in school,sports and communityservice.When they grow up,they often become political leaders,community leaders,and professionals in their fields.
8.Have you heard about"Surviva l(生存) Holidays"?"Survival Holidays"is for children to go into the lonely place for exciting activities. Now about 1,100 companies are allowed to take children into the great outdoors without their parents.
The reason why people like"Survival Holidays"is that they think being close to nature is good for children. Many children in big cities spend all time watching TV and playing computer games."Survival Holidays"gives them an important change.
Is"Survival Holidays"a wond erful idea?Maybe it is.Children need more free time to play.Th ey need to be left on their own, without adults disturbing(打扰) them.Parents care too much about their children. They li ke to see the children being busy with activities that are controlled by adults but children don't know what to do when they are in danger.Even something like crossing a small river seems to be a hard challenge.Childre n are not comfortable with danger.Even small danger like getting their feet wet or falling down seems very terrible to them.
Many people think the survival activities are good for children.Even years later, they will still remember what they have learned. Some have learned to stay calm in different times. Some have learned how to keep safe.Others have learned how to work in a team. All these skills will help them a lot in their lives
