15.Everyone has heard of Groundhog Day (土拨鼠日).(26)A.
People in America think that the groundhog awakens from its winter's sleep on February 2nd.The groundhog comes out of its hole.If the sun is shining,it will see its shadow. The shadow scares it.So it runs back into its hole. This means six more weeks of winter. If the day is cloudy,it will not see its shadow.Since it is not scared,it stays out of its hole.(27)C.These are the same things we say on Groundhog Day today.
(28)B.They are known mainly to country people.City people just don't know how to look for them.City people think that a groundhog sitting by its hole may look like a root(根).It could also be seen as a clod (块) of earth.Or it may look like a broken fence-post(栅栏柱).But a farmer sees groundhogs anywhere he looks. They'll be watching like guards.
The groundhog is a native American.(29)F.It may also appear as far north as Alaska. It is hated by farmers. The groundhog eats a third of its weight in a day. What a big appetite(胃口)!It may eat about a half-ton of alfalfa(苜蓿) in a summer. So 10 groundhogs in a big field would eat five tons.
Why do groundhogs eat so much?To prepare for winter.(30)E.This extra food is changed to fat. This fat is what they live on during their long winter's sleep.

A.It is an American holiday.
B.Groundhogs are strange animals.
C.This means that spring will soon come.
D.There are several ways to protect the groundhog.
E.In the fall, when there is a lot of food, they fill up.
F.It is found in most states east of the Rockies(落基山脉).
G.While it is not one of your major holidays,it is one that children love.

Everyone has heard of Groundhog Day (土拨鼠日).译为:每个人都听说过土拨鼠日,这里选A(它是美国的一个节日.) 故选A.
Since it is not scared,it stays out of its hole. 所以这里选C(这就意味着春天会很快到来.)
所以这里选B(土拨鼠是奇怪的动物.)
The groundhog is a native American. It may also appear as far north as Alaska. 所以这里选F(落基山脉东部大部分的州能找到土拨鼠.)
Why do groundhogs eat so much?To prepare for winter. This extra food is changed to fat. This fat is what they live on during their long winter's sleep. E:In the fall, when there is a lot of food, they fill up.

Five Happiness Secrets For Tough Times
Sonja Lyubomirsky,an author,has researched the science of happiness for years.Here are her tips to help you cope with a bad economy,and increase your bursts of happiness throughout the day.
(61)D
"You could spend a lot of time thinking deeply,"says Lyubomirsky."But that just makes you feel even more pessimistic,more out of control,and affects your self esteem.Your relationships will suffer and your job performance will suffer."
Get rid of pessimism.One of the most effective ways to cope when things are difficult is to adopt a positive thinking strategy."What can I learn from this?Times are tough,I've been furloughed at work,but I can spend more time with the kids,adopt a new hobby,or learn a new set of skills."
(62)F
Now more than ever we need each other to survive.Lyubomirsky found that doing good things for friends,family,or strangers can make you happier.Think of practical,everyday gestures that can make someone's life a little bit easier.For example,Lyubomirsky says,"Maybe now many of us can't afford to take a cab to the airport,so offer to give a friend a ride."
(63)A
You don't need an expert to tell you that relationships are critical to happiness.Not being the bread-winner anymore or not being able to fulfill your kid's needs can weigh down hard on your family life.But the trick is to stop feeling guilty and focus on caring for your loved ones.
"I was at a psychology conference where an expert was talking about the effects of this economy on families and how parents can't afford to buy their kids luxuries like toys anymore,"says Lyubomirsky."But what they don't realize is that kids don't care about toys-what they care about is parents being grumpy and taking it out on them."
(64)E
"If you find a happy person you will find a project,"says Lyubomirsky."Happy people all have goals they care about."
Commit yourself to a project-whether it is a business you want to start or a dance you want to learn.But it's also important to remember to be flexible in these times.Don't get frustrated if circumstances are stopping you from meeting your goals.Adopt and change!
"If your spouse has lost their job you might have to change your goal,"says Lyubomirsky."Or you might have to learn a whole new skill for a new job."
(65)C
When times are tough,it's easy to skip your regular workouts in favor of mopping in front of the TV and eating a bag of chips.Your thinking is"I have more important things to worry about right now than looking good."
But carve out a small part of your day to give your body some TLC (Tender Loving Care).It will go a long way in boosting your happiness."Even if you can't afford to go to the gym,"Lyubomirsky says,"take time out to exercise at home."
6.Annoying Mobile Phone Users
What really annoys me most about modern life is the way some people use their mobile phones.(36)GHowever,there are some people out there who just don't care about other people's feeling when they use a phone.These mobile phone users make life painful for the rest of us.Let's divide these users into groups.
The first group are those people who shout on the phone,especially in enclosed places like trains or lifts.(37)CIt isn't necessary.
(38)B Some ringtones are truly unpleasant---a loud,electronic version of Beethoven with a hip hop beat,for example.This is especially annoying in the cinema.
The third group of people who annoy me are those who have to walk around while they speak.(39)F.
Finally,the worst group are people who take a phone call while you are in a conversation with them.This is extremely rude in my opinion.
I would like to end with a message to all the above mobile phone users:You think you look cool and important talking on your mobile all the time.(40)A

A.But believe me----you don't!
B.Next are those with annoying ringtones.
C.I don't know why they have to talk so loudly.
D.This group of people keep talking on the phone.
E.I have no idea where they get the noisy ringtones
F.They stand in the way just when you want to get past.
G.The mobile phone is an important part of life for most of us.
10.Your house may have an effect on your weight. It is said that the way you design your home could play a part in whether you put on weight or not.1(36)GHere are some ways to turn your home into part of your diet plan.
(37)EDark environments are more likely to encourage overeating, for people are often less self-conscious(难为情)when they're in poorly lit places---and so more likely to eat lots of food.If your home doesn't have enough window light, get more lamps and fill the place with light.
(38)AResearch suggests warm colors help us eat more.In one study, people who ate meals in a yellow or red room consumed 33 percent more than those in a blue room.Warm colors like yellow make food appear more appetizing, while cold colors make us feel less hungry. So when it's time to repaint,go blue.
(39)CPeople who eat slowly usually use about 70 fewer calories(卡路里)per meal than those who rush through their meals.Try to make dinner last at least 30 minutes. And while you're at it,actually sit down to eat.If you need some help slowing down, turn on relaxing music. It makes you less likely to rush through a meal.
(40)BBig bowls and plates can easily make us fat.We eat about 22 percent more when using a 12-inch plate instead of a 10-inch plate. When we choose a large spoon over a smaller one, total intake(摄入)jumps by 14 percent. And we'll pour about 30 percent more liquid into a short, wide glass than a tall, skinny glass.

A.Mind the colors.
B.Downsize the dishes.
C.Don't forget the clock---or the radio.
D.Get more food full of energy and fiber.
E Open the curtains and turn up the lights.
F.Having meals in your own house is good for your health.
G.You can make your house work for you instead of against you.
20.A.Arguments are pointless.
B.Your parents only want what's best for you.
C.Everyone's opinion matters only as much as you want them to.
D.You learn by doing.
E.Your emotions are under your control.
F.You aren't stuck in any situation.
Life is the greatest teacher
There always comes a moment when I wonder where I will end up and this moment always serves as a strong motivation for me to learn life lesson.I've learned a great many things, but these are the lessons that I wish I'd learned earlier:
(61)C
There was a time when everyone's opinion was mine as well.Whatever preferences I formerly held were dashed in the face of another's.This most likely came from a need to please others.
Remember that your opinion matters just as much as the next guy's,whether they make more money than you or are less popular than you.Everyone's opinion holds the same weight.
(62)E
Drama,chaos,and emotional unrest-these were what took up most of my time as a teenager.When everyone's obsessed with what's in and what's not,tempers flare; mine mostly.
If I had heard someone said rotten things behind my back,I'd erupt.Go crazy.Looking back on those tantrums now,I'm not too surprised.After all,when you have little self control,anything is possible.The lessons here is,remain aware of how you react.
(63)A
Will one small quarrel among friends decide the fate of the entire universe?In my world it felt like it.I just wanted so much to be right and for them so much to be wrong.But in the end,it only resulted in me wasting my time and in the other person storming off in frustration.
Is there really a point to arguing?Unless it's absolutely necessary,I've learned that it's better to hold your breath on things you can't control at all.
Arguing to change someone's mind is one of them.
(64)B
I'm not saying every parent wants what's best for you (there are outliers),but in general,parents do what they do for you in your best interest.My parents used to make me do the dishes,cook dinner,sweep the floors,mow the lawn,take out the garbage…the list goes on and on.And at every turn,I'd whine and complain.I'd eventually end up doing it.Now,I honestly see the value in having learned those skills.I can efficiently cook and clean up after myself.
(65)F
Whenever I'd lose a friend,get an awful grade,or disappoint my parents,I stewed in my own muck.Waiting for the bad moments to go away seemed to be the only solution.Fortunately,I know now that you don't have to be stuck in bad situations.You can go out and create better ones.
It all depends on perspective; on how you see the situation.Viewing everything as a learning experience makes life more pleasurable,even during the hard times.You aren't stuck.You can move on.
I'm glad to have learned these lessons the way I did.Each experience helped shape me to become a better person.I don't know if any young people are reading this,but if they are,I'd like to say this:"Listen to life and it's experiences.Everyone goes through mostly the same things."
7.Do you have a hobby?Something you look forward to spending your time with?Something you love to do?(36)D Or making model airplanes.Or making useful things out of waste materials.It could be a musical instrument that you love playing.Or singing and dancing.
There are many things that a hobby can give you,apart from an enjoyable time.Sashay was a shy boy but through his interest in model airplanes he learned the value of sticking to a task until it was finished.(37)G His model airplane club brought him to get into touch with similar persons.
Having a hobby helps you relax and get away from the routines of school.(38)C It gives you focus,self-dependence,confidence and builds your personality and this is an opportunity to lose yourself in an enjoyable activity,away from the pressure of school,so at the end of it,you feel relaxed and yet,mentally charged.
Your hobby defines(确定; 解释) you.(39)FAnd it also shows you what you are good at,and how far you can go,when you apply yourself.
(40)AA hobby is:Happiness:something which you look forward to doing.Opportunity:to develop your special and unique skills and celebrate them.Belief in yourself:makes you understand your strong advantages and improves your confidence.Best in you:brings out your best-for in each one of us there is a best that is only ours.YOU!gives you a unique character,and makes you YOU!

A.So go ahead and develop a hobby.
B.It proves your ability.
C.It gives you a break.
D.It could be collecting something.
E.Hobbies show your character.
F.It shows your special skills.
G.He learned to make friends for the first time.
