Dear Cathy, thanks for volunteering to clean up the science laboratory this afternoon. Today I have a teachers staff meeting at 3:30pm, so I can’t be there with you. Here is what you should do. First, clean all the glass containers. Second, wipe down all the worktables with a wet cloth. Third, put all the microscopes back on the shelf. Finally, sweep the floor and take the trash outside the door. Oh, one more thing, remember to turn off the lights and lock the door when you leave. If you have any questions, please ask Ms. Edwards in the classroom next door. You can return the key to me tomorrow when we have class at 10:30am. Thank you so much for your help! —Mr. Marston.

【题目】根据短文内容,选择最佳答案。
Driving could soon be a far more pleasant experience thanks to a personal in-car robot being developed by researchers. The robot, which is called “Affective Intelligent Driving Agent (AIDA)” will be able to tell you the best route home based on traffic reports, remind you to pick up petrol and suggest places you may like to visit. The robot, which sits on the dashboard, is being developed at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in collaboration with Volkswagen.
AIDA communicates with the driver through an expressive robot screen and will even appear sympathetic if you're having a bad day. Cynthia Breazeal, director of MIT's Personal Robots Group, said: “We are developing AIDA to read the driver's mood from facial expression and other cues and respond in a proper way.”
AIDA works by analyzing the driver's mobility patterns, keeping track of common routes and destinations. The creators say the robot should be able to work out home and work locations within a week of driving. Soon afterwards, the system will direct the driver to their preferred supermarket, suggesting a route that avoids traffic-clogged roads. AIDA might recommend a petrol stop en route if the fuel tank is nearly empty. The robot will also incorporate real-time information about traffic jams, the weather report, commercial activity, tourist attractions, and residential areas.
“In developing AIDA we asked ourselves how we could design a system that would offer the same kind of guidance as an informed and friendly companion.”
“AIDA can also give you feedback on your driving, helping you achieve more energy efficiency and safer behavior,” Assaf Biderman from SENSEable City Lab added.
(1)What is AIDA in this passage?
A.A personal driver.
B.A traffic controller.
C.A traffic indicator.
D.A smart car robot.
(2)What's the most impressive about AIDA according to the passage?
A.It can stay away from traffic jams.
B.It can replace the driver to drive the car.
C.It can interact with the driver.
D.It can help the driver find the way.
(3)From the last paragraph we can know that _______.
A.it's possible to drive a car without any petrol
B.AIDA can help us to become better drivers
C.people can save a lot of energy by driving a car
D.It can help the driver find the way
(4)What would be the best title for the passage?
A.An Intelligent Device for Drivers
B.A New Model of Volkswagen
C.The Cooperation of Two Car Makers
D.Traffic Management in Big Cities

【题目】根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。Forgiveness
To forgive is a virtue, but no one has ever said it is easy. When someone has deeply hurt you, it can be extremely difficult to let go of your hate. However, forgiveness is possible, and it can be surprisingly beneficial to your physical and mental health. People who forgive show less sadness, anger and stress and more hopefulness, according to a recent research.
Try the following steps:
Calm yourself. You can take a couple of breaths and think of something that gives you pleasure: a beautiful scene in nature, or someone you love.
Don't wait for an apology. Many times the person who hurt you does not intend to apologize. They may have wanted to hurt you or they just don't see things the same way. Keep in mind that forgiveness does not necessarily mean becoming friends again with the person who upset you.
Take the control away from your offender(冒犯者). Rethinking about your hurt gives power to the person who causes you pain. Instead of focusing on your wounded feelings, learn to look for the love, beauty and kindness around you.
If you understand your offender, you may realize that he or she was acting out of unawareness, fear, and even love. You may want to write a letter to yourself from your offender's point of view.
Don't forget to forgive yourself. But it can rob you of your self-confidence if you don't do it.
A. Why should you forgive?
B. How should you start to forgive?
C. Recognize the benefits of forgiveness.
D. Try to see things from your offender's angle.
E. For some people, forgiving themselves is the biggest challenge.
F. To make your anger die away, try a simple stress-management technique.
G. If you wait for people to apologize, you could be waiting an awfully long time.

【题目】There are so many things we do in our daily lives that have become a "habit".1How you answer the phone is a habit. The way you sit in the car when you drive is a habit. Have you ever tried to change the way you do something, after you ve done it in a certain way for so long? It's not very easy to do. The minute your mind drifts to something else, you go right back to the old way of doing things.2it's a way of doing things that has become routine or commonplace. To change an existing habit or form a new one can be a boring task.

Let's pick something fairly easy to start with, like spending 15 minutes in the morning reading a book. If you want to turn something into a habit that you do every day, you have to WANT to do it.3Make a firm decision to do this on a daily basis.

Imprint it in your mind. Write several notes to yourself and put them in places where you will see them. By the alarm clock, on the bathroom mirror, on the refrigerator door, in your briefcase, and under your car keys are good places to start.

After the newness wears off, then you will have to remind yourself, "Hey, I forgot to..." Keep using the notes if you have to.4Some people say it will take over a month to solidify it and make it something you will do without having to think about it. I tend to agree with the last statement. Two to three weeks will help you to remember, but thirty days or more will make it a part of your everyday routine.5

A. What is a "habit" anyway?

B. Forming a bad habit is easy.

C. Brushing your teeth is a habit.

D. Is doing things in an old way good?

E. If you don't, you will find a way to do everything but that.

F. It takes 16 to 21 times of repeating a task to make it a habit.

G. that's something you won't necessarily have to think about before you do it—habit.

【题目】Weeping willow tree (垂柳) facts will astonish and amaze you. These beautiful trees are found through North America, Europe and Asia.

There are more than 400 species of weeping willow trees, with most found in the Northern Hemisphere. 1 They easily grow ten feet per year, and take over the landscape. Their rounded, drooping branches give the tree a unique shape. Willows can clear up troublesome spots in the landscape like floods.

2 While they prefer moist, cool conditions, they can tolerate some drought. They’re a great choice to create an oasis of shade, if you have space to grow these gentle giants.

3 In the fall, the color ranges from a light yellow-green shade to a pretty blue color, depending upon the type. Trees lose their leaves in the fall, and are ideal to create summertime shade.

In literature, the most famous literary reference to the willow is perhaps William Shakespeare’s Willow Song in Othello. Desdemona, the heroine of the play, sings the song in her despair.4

The earliest written record of The Willow Song is from 1583 and was written for the lute (琵琶), a stringed instrument like a guitar but with a much softer sound. Shakespeare uses the symbolism of the willow again in Hamlet, when doomed Ophelia breaks willow branches and throws them into the river where she eventually drowns herself.5 Even in the famous modem novel Harry Potter, Willows are described as characters.

A. Weeping willow trees are fast growing.

B. Many composers have set this song to music.

C. Willows are referenced also in Twelfth Night.

D. They also like to grow near ponds, streams and lakes.

E. Most willows have pretty, green, long and thin leaves.

F. Poets and artists usually like willows and sing them in their works.

G. Weeping willows aren’t particular about their soil type, and they’re very adaptive.
