此为听力题,解析略

M: Where are you going for Christmas this year?

W: This year Dennis and I are thinking about going on an extreme mountain-climb to the world’s second highest mountain. It’s located in Pakistan.

M: Wow, extreme mountain-climbing? That can be very dangerous if you don’t know what you are doing. You know that sometimes the temperatures can be up to 50 degrees below freezing with winds up to 60 miles per hour. Also the ice can crack and break under your feet at any time.

W: Well, I’ve been looking at some information about mountain-climbing in my extreme sports magazines; I think it’s something that we would both like to try.

M: Certainly learning as much as you can will help you to have a safe and fun trip. When I was young I used to go on long hiking expeditions because I was a professional photographer. I would just make sure that you bring someone with you who knows the mountain very well.

W: We are planning on bringing a guide with us. We also have a professional trainer that has helped us train this year. Now all we need is the plane tickets and we are ready to go!

【题目】 You might think male models lead glamorous lives, filled with endless travel and invitations to socialize with the rich and beautiful. Almost everyone has formed an unrealistic picture of their lives, believing that they spend one afternoon beside the Mediterranean Sea sipping coffee and getting suntanned and the next moment they are on board flying to Rome. However, according to a 2016 documentary made by the pop culture news site Fusion, the financial reality of male models is not very pretty.

The main subject of the documentary, titled Unglamorous, is a male model named Cameron Keesling who went to New York to start his career, hoping to make a fortune in the world of models. Keesling is not a supermodel but he has certainly made his name known in the industry. He was “working in the industry for about a year before landing the cover of Italian Vogue” in 2014. But “Keesling and his companions were paid nothing for the efforts”, Fusion reporter Nikita Redkar wrote.

Keesling also appeared at Paris Fashion Week and won lots of praise, while his compensation wouldn’t even cover the cost of traveling to and from Paris.

According to the documentary the most common way models get paid is by receiving free clothes, rather than money. In order to make ends meet, consequently, many of them have to take another job simply to make a living. Many of these models are in debt. Once they find an agency to represent them, a living income is provided by the agency to accommodate their rent, food, clothing and other expenses. Models are expected to pay off these costs once they find work, but many of the industry’s jobs don’t pay at all. Believe it or not, there is a pay gap between male models and female counterparts. Based on a survey conducted by Fortune.com, female models can make millions more than males, especially if you compare the top ten earners of each gender.

A.a busy and simple lifeB.a tiring and dull life

2Why does the author mention Cameron Keesling in the second paragraph?

A.To introduce his real life

B.To explain why he went to New York

C.To illustrate the hardship of male models’ lives

D.To encourage models to make a fortune in New York

3What does the underlined word “counterparts” mean in the last paragraph?

A.FriendsB.Peers

C.SchoolmatesD.Opponents

4What is the writer’s attitude towards the lives of the male models?

A.SupportiveB.Doubtful

C.CriticalD.Objective

【题目】 We all want to be successful in our work. But what happens when our achievements come at the risk of losing important friendships? If your friends didn't receive what they were hoping for, your success could make them feel like they've been “left in the dust”. But does that mean that we shouldn't enjoy our achievements in case we displease someone or that we should feel sorry for being successful when others aren't?

Those of us who value friendships and close working relationships might feel embarrassed for achieving more than our friends. But we deserve our success, and nothing should take it away. Jealousy is only natural, but It’s often unreasonable, too. Your success is probably not connected with your friends' progress, so you shouldn't feel bad about achieving your goals. If your friends stay unfriendly, don’t be afraid to keep yourself away from them. You are not responsible for their weaknesses, and nor should they treat you sharply for furthering your work.

On the other hand, your friends may think highly of your recent success while hiding their real feelings. They could be jealous, angry or sad that they are not progressing at the same rate. So, be careful not to boast. It's a thin line between pride and self-importance, and by crossing the line, you may risk losing team support.

Next time you want to boast about your end-of-year win, or high-class new office, consider your listeners. Maybe your friends narrowly missed out on a position-raising, or experienced pay cuts which meant they didn't get what they were expecting. If your work is on a rising path, it doesn't mean that's the case for everyone.

Perhaps a step forward in your work has meant that you don't spend as much time with your friends as you used to. If you've changed a post or moved to a new office, take the time to stay in touch with old friends. Chances are that in the build-up to your success you've built strong relationships along the way. Don't let that hard work go to waste by losing touch with them.

1From the first two paragraphs, it can be inferred that ________.

A.we should enjoy our deserving success

B.our success will certainly hurt our friends

C.friends will surely help us achieve success

D.our success is connected with our friends’ progress

2Which of the following best explains “boast” underlined in Paragraph 3?

A.Show up.B.Stand out.

C.Talk big.D.Keep silent.

3What should we do if our friends support our success?

A.Improve ourselves further.

B.Consider their feelings.

C.Help them make progress.

D.Make them proud of us.

4What does the text mainly talk about?

A.How to share our success with friends.

B.How to enjoy our success to the fullest.

C.How to keep relationships between friends.

D.How to keep friendships while enjoying achievements.
