We need more men in our hospital, not as doctors, but as nurses.Over the last few years,I have found that having male nurses is a real bonus, and they definitely have a place in our hospital. There are several reasons for wanting male nurses here, not only because half the population in our country is male.Men (41)Gexcellent carers and are (42)Cgood at taking care of others. In fact, many men take good care of their children, wives, parents, sisters, brothers, and even their nieces and nephews.
Another reason that men can become great nurses is that in general, men are (43)Hstronger than women.Male nurses can help (44)Eheavy objects,or if,for example,a patient cannot move from the waist down, male nurses can help move the patient into a comfortable (45)J.Also,male nurses can be a great help in keeping patients (46)Bwhile they receive painful treatment, such as when bandages covering wounds are changed.Another advantage to having male nurses is that they see things from a different (47)Ffrom women and bring a male way of thinking to problem-solving.This allows the hospital to work more effectively than if we only (48)Iproblems one way.Having a mix of male and female nurses also helps create a fun atmosphere, which helps patients recover faster.
Currently, only 7 percent of our nursing staff are men; this number is far too low,and the problem requires correction.Having more male nurses will help create a positive(49)Dbetween male and female staff, and it will (50)Kpatients the choice of a male or female carer.I am determined to take on more male nurses here at Central Hospital.I will be organizing an open day soon to allow interested young men to visit our hospital and find out more about nursing.Hopefully,we will have more male nurses in our hospital soon!

5.Everyone knows about straight-A students. We see them frequently in TV sitcoms (情景喜剧) and in movies. The kids at the top of the class get there by mastering a few basic techniques that others can learn in an easy way. Thus it is necessary for you to learn the secrets of becoming straight-A students.
Among the students we interviewed, study times are a matter of personal perference. Some work late at night when it is quiet, whereas others awake early. And there are still others who decide to study as soon as they come home from school when the work is fresh in their minds. All of them agree, however,on the need for study time."Whatever I was doing,I would find some time every day for studying,"says a top student from New Jersey.
Being organized is another habit they share in common.McCray,an outstanding student interviewed, runs track, plays football and is in a band."I was so busy; I couldn't waste time looking for a pencil or missing paper.I kept everything right where I could put my hands on it,"he says. Some students maintain two folders (文件夹)-one for the day's assignment, another for papers completed and graded. However, some students have another system, filing the day's papers in color-coded(颜色编码的)folders by subject.
The top students also take good notes while reading the text assignment. In fact,David Cieri, another top student interviewed, uses"my homemade"system in which he draws a line down the center of a notebook, writes notes from the text on one side and those from the lecture delivered by his teacher on the other.Then.He is able to review both aspects of the assignment at once.
Just before the bell rings, most students close their books, put away papers, whisper to friends and get ready to rush out.But the top students use the few minutes to write a two-or three-sentence summary of the lesson's important points, which he or she scans before the next day's class.
You can become a straight-A student by following the above secrets.

12.Food makes us feel good,but some people eat when they aren't really hungry and eat to simply feel good.This kind of eating habit is called emotional eating,which does not affect adults but also young children.It isn't a good thing.
A child's eating habits can develop right from childhood.As we know,a baby cries out if he doesn't get milk at the usual time of the day.However,sometimes parents immediately stick a bottle in a child's mouth without trying to find out if the child is really hungry.In fact,children may cry for other reasons.Even as children grow up and start going to school,parents sometimes give them a chocolate bar if they become really unhappy.As the children further grow up,they may become used to having a snack whenever they're upset or low.
Therefore,they'd like to eat an emotional snack when they have the feeling of unhappiness and boredom.Even when they don't get high grades,aren't popular at school or made fun of by others,they will want something to eat.After having the snack,they feel a lot better.
Emotional eating in young children is a thing that needs to be taken seriously.To protect your children from emotional eating,you should satisfy your child's emotional needs in the best possible way.This includes spending time with your child every day,taking an interest in his school work,helping your child study,providing a health environment without tension at home,etc.Don't make the child lose face by scolding him.Develop confidence in your child.Make your child eat enough once in a while.Reward him for his achievements.
All this will help your little one develop a healthy eating habit.And always remember love and care is the key to help you child out of trouble and grow up happily.

9.Lost forever
Most people have heard about Didus ineptus,or the dodo,as it is more commonly known. It was the flightless,long-extinct(灭绝的)member of the dove family that lived in the Indian Ocean island of Mauritius. The name"dodo"comes from the Portuguese and means"a person who is foolish";(31)C,to call someone a"dodo"(32)Atheir stupidity. The dodo was a foolish creature about the size of a turkey and was easily fooled by sailors who tapped on trees to(33)Cits attention. It would come(34)D towards the sound and was easily caught and whisked on board ship to become a valuable source of fresh, but tough meat.
Another expression to appear from the(35)Abird's situation is to say that something is"as dead as a dodo",which means long since dead, very much(36)B,or deserted.Of the many animals that people have removed from the face of the earth, the dodo has probably made the greatest contribution to our(37)D.
Another less well-known but(38)Bextinct bird is Aepyornis maximus, more commonly known as the elephant bird of Madagascar. This creature(39)Ca very thickset,three-metre-tall emu(鸸鹋)(40)Dover half a ton and is thought to be the largest bird that ever lived. It was big in every way, even its eggs were extremely large. An elephant bird egg could measure up to ninety centimetres in diameter and(41)C nine liters of liquid, about 200 ordinary chicken eggs. The eggs were in fact three times larger than dinosaur eggs.
It's hard to imagine how impressive the elephant bird must have been as it walked about proudly in its natural habitat. For thousands of years its size(42)Awas enough to scare the meat-eating animals.(43)Bit was a flightless bird, its sharp claws and powerful neck and beak ensured it could look after itself-that is,up until the Europeans arrived on Madagascar. They not only hunted elephant birds for food but began(44)Ctheir eggs as gifts.Sadly it was made(45)Daround I700,and the world became a much poorer place because of it
