【题目】We all know that Apple iPad is designed mainly for business people. But besides business people there are many other people who are interested in getting one. Students are very interested in the latest technology. So you cannot keep Apple iPad away from students. The question is: Should they buy an Apple iPad?

Apple iPad has many features that would work for students, which means that students do not have to carry books for references. They can use e-Books because Apple iPad has a big screen that makes reading a pleasure. You can even write on iPad. So it works as an all in one tool that is so light that it can be put in any backpack. The battery life of Apple iPad is for around 10 hours, which is clearly a good point for students. The touch screen is big and iPad does not create any noise while it is working. In a word, Apple iPad does have some features that would do good to students.

However, students might have to slow down their work because Apple iPad struggles when it comes to doing many tasks at the same time. It would create a problem if the student has to take down notes quickly while the iPad does not allow him/her to work well. Another thing that students might not be happy with is that there is no keyboard. Though iPad has an on-screen keyboard, it might not be as useful as a real keyboard. Apple iPad has no USB port(端口) or SD card slot(插卡槽), which means students will not be able to share information quickly among themselves.

Therefore, I don't think it's necessary for students to buy an iPad. It may not work as well as they expect. They can buy a netbook for their study. It would work better for them.

【题目】The Best Time to Visit These Pricey Destinations

If you’re going to shell out on a vacation, then you might as well do it right. With that in mind, we’ve asked a few experts for tips on when to visit some of the most expensive places across the globe. Here’s what they had to say.

Botswana

Hotels in Botswana are second only to Dubai in terms of average cost per person, per night, at around $257. To make the most of your time there, consider an autumn visit, suggests Sarah Faith of Responsible Travel. “The heat peaks in October—this is the best time to go and see wild animals as they gather around in the Okavango Delta”, says Faith. While wildlife viewing is incredible in Botswana, there’s much to enjoy away from the wilderness, too.”

New York City

New York is the second-most expensive holiday destination overall and the most expensive place to dine out, with an average meal for two costing around $67. Garrett, the CEO of Discover New York, suggests, “October and June have gorgeous weather, so outdoor activities are a good choice, with sailing, in-depth neighborhood walks and biking.” For great value, she advises traveling in January and February, when the city offers tons of indoor activities, from art galleries and Broadway shows to indoor sports events and thousands of dining options.

Sydney

With its incredible surfing beaches, dining scene and friendly locals, Sydney is always a favorite of travelers. It’s also expensive. Generally, the shoulder seasons (fall and spring in the U.S.) have the most comfortable weather and fewer crowds than the December-to-February high season. But some months have particular appeal, according to Stuart Rigg, Australian travel specialist for Southern Crossings. April, for example, falls into the low season, which means you’ll find hotel deals along with weather that’s typically “very pleasant,” Rigg says. “Sydney also has some great events during this low season period,” he adds.

London

Petulia Melideo, who runs Context’s London walking tours, advises booking well in advance for lower hotel rates, and suggests a wintry visit. “November is a great time for London. The weather is still tolerable—and if it gets too chilly, there are plenty of cozy pubs to pop into,” she says. Other good times to visit include June, which means fewer tourists.

1According to the passage, October is the best time to travel to________.

A. New York and Botswana B. London and Sydney

C. New York and London D. Sydney and Botswana

2Visitors to Sydney __________.

A. may find cheap hotels in the shoulder seasons

B. can enjoy wonderful beaches and dining scene

C. will experience the most comfortable weather in December

D. should avoid the low season because of the unpleasant weather

3Which is the desirable month if you’d like to visit London without too many crowds?

A. April. B. June.

C. November. D. December.

【题目】In a new move, doctors are using feature films in order to encourage their patients to talk more freely about their problems. Supporters of “film therapy (疗法)” say that discussing characters and plot lines from a proper film can help people to understand their feelings better.

One of those using the method is Bernie Wooder, a doctor from Elstree, who charges 45 for a one-hour “film therapy” session. He said, “I was treating a woman who had been badly let down in a relationship, and who was experiencing such strong feelings that it was difficult for her to speak about them. I told her that her situation reminded me of On the Waterfront, when Marlon Brando's character realizes his brother is dishonest and he feels a great sense of betrayal (背叛). My patient identified so easily with him that she started to cry. Watching and discussing the film

unlocked all the feelings she had buried. Each time she watched and cried, she felt better.”

Mr Wooder admits that film therapy does not work for everyone, but says he has used it successfully with about a third of his clients. “Through the films' characters, plots and even music, it allows people to face their problems.” He said that Falling Down, in which Michael Douglas plays the part of an unemployed man who is so frustrated (沮丧的) that he uses violence, was an example of the dangerous implications (后果) of not letting anger go. “I used this film with a patient who was very upset because he was holding on to a lot of the anger he felt towards people who had frustrated him,” said Mr Wooder. “We talked about Michael Douglas's character and the disastrous path he takes, and my patient then realized that he needed to let go of his feelings more regularly so as not to erupt (爆发) like a time bomb.”

1What can we learn about Bernie Wooder?

A. He used to be an actor. B. He likes to review different films.

C. He is good at sharing his feelings. D. He is in support of “film therapy”.

2Why did the patient cry when she watched On the Waterfront?

A. She missed her brother. B. She was moved by the film.

C. She realized she had been cheated. D. She thought of her sufferings.

3After discussing Falling Down with Mr Wooder, the patient decided to _____.

A. let go of his anger B. stop his acts of violence

C. forget those who hurt him D. learn from Michael Douglas

4What does the text mainly tell us?

A. Film stars have problems too.

B. Films can help unlock feelings.

C. Watching films can help you relax.

D. The public should pay more attention to films.
