Once upon a time, a man punished his 5-year-old daughter for using up the family' s expensive gold wrapping (包装 ) paper. Money was always not enough, and he became even more upset when on Christmas Eve, he saw that the child had pasted ( 贴) the gold paper to decorate a shoebox to put under the Christmas tree.
The next morning the little girl, filled with excitement, brought the gift box to her father and said, "This is for you, Daddy!"
As he opened the box, the father was sorry for his earlier behavior.
But after he opened it, he found it was empty and again he was angry."Don' t you know, young lady, " he said, "when you give someone a present there's  supposed to be something inside the package!"
The little girl looked up at him with tears running from her eyes and said, "Daddy, it's not empty. I blew kisses into it until it was all full."
When the father heard this,  he fell on his knees and put his arm around his dear little girl. He begged her to forgive him for his unnecessary anger.
An accident took the life of the child only a short time later. It is told that the father kept that little gold box by his bed for all the year of his life. Whenever he was sad or faced difficult problems he would open the box, take out an imaginary kiss, and remember the love of this beautiful child who had put it there.
In a very real sense, each of us as human beings have been given an invisible golden box filled with love and kisses from our children, family, friends and God. This is the most expensive possession (财产) anyone could hold.

Dragons can be friendly or fierce (凶狠), they can bring good luck or cause death, but one  thing is sure——people  talk about  them almost everywhere in the world.
In Chinese culture, dragons are generous and wise, although  they can be unpredictable. The dragon was closely connected  to  the royal  family: the emperor's robes (礼袍) have a symbol of a gold dragon with five claws. According  to popular belief,  if you were born  in  the year of the dragon, you are intelligent, brave, and a natural leader.
But in the west, dragons had a different reputation (名声). The very first text in English, the Anglo-Saxon poem Beowulf, tells the story of a Scandinavian hero, Beowulf, who fights and kills a dangerous dragon but is himself killed in the fight. However, across the border in Wales, the red dragon which appears on the Welsh flag is a positive symbol, indicating strength and a sense of national identity.
Why should  the dragon have a different character  in different parts of  the world? Some experts believe it is due to the animals that the myths grew out of.  In the west, the  idea of  the dragon probably came  from  the snake—an animal which people hated and were afraid of.
But in China, the idea of the dragon may have come from  the alligator--a shy animal which lives in rivers, but which  is usually only seen when  there  is plenty of water--a good sign for agriculture(农业). So the Chinese dragon was a bringer of good fortune.

Soon his basket was full, but Anansi was worried that his neighbors might be jealous(嫉妒)of his wisdom and take it from him. He decided to hide it at the top of a tall tree. When he had tired the basket to the front part of his body, he tried to climb the tree, but it was too difficult. He tried again and again without success.
Then his youngest son walked by, “What are you doing, father?” he asked and Anansi told him. “Why don’t you carry the basket on your back instead?” his son said.
Anansi put the basket on his back and climbed the tree easily, but he wasn’t happy. “I walked all over the village and collected so much wisdom that I am the wisest person ever, but my baby son is still wiser than me.
