题目内容

The number of rural(乡村的) left-behind children under 17 years old has increased to 61.02 million, according to a report. These children’s parents leave them with their grandparents or other family members in order to make money in cities.
Sichuan Province and Henan Province have the highest percentage of rural left-behind children. Together with Anhui Province, Guangdong Province and Hunan Province, these five provinces have 43.64% of the country’s rural left-behind children, the report says.
The report finds that left-behind children are mainly in the central and western provinces. But the developed eastern areas also face similar problems, the report says. Guangdong Province has the most left-behind children, with 4.34 million, followed by Zhejiang Province, Jiangsu Province, Shanghai and Beijing.
“What I’m worried about most is the schooling of my child, as I have no time to help her with her homework.” Said An Baiyou, a truck driver from Shangdong Province, who has been leaving his 10-year-old daughter with his parents while driving trucks in other provinces. “However, to make money or to take care of the child, you can only choose one side.”
Wang Zhenyao, the president of Beijing Normal University Institue of Public Welfare, says that if the left-behind children problem can’t be solved, it will affect the nation’s future.
Compared with those who live with their parents, left-behind children need more care and protection. The country should think about ways to attract the rural workers in cities to return and work in their hometown to improve the development of these places.”
In addition, it is important to set up laws to protect the basic rights of young people, especially those with illnesses or only one parent.
These children are the future of the nation. People should offer them their love, care and protection.

It's over three years since I began to learn English. I am glad that I am getting on well with it.  I find English very interesting, but quite difficult. When I first started, I thought I had only to remember the new words and learn some grammar. I know little about English idioms(习语). I thought each English word had a word with the same meaning in Chinese. When I learned to say "I see a book on the desk", I thought the English word "see" was just like the Chinese word "kan". So one day when my teacher asked me, "What are you doing?" I answered, "I'm seeing a book." "That's wrong," the teacher said. "You don't see a book. You read a book. You can't use an English word like a Chinese one. Be sure not to make the same mistake again."
After that I began to pay more attention to the differences between Chinese and English. For example, in English we say a "high mountain", but a "tall man". In Chinese we use the same word "gao" for both. Again in English we say "take part in the sports meeting", "attend a meeting" and "join the army", while in Chinese we can use "can jia" for all the three. It's interesting, isn't it? So to study English doesn't only mean hard work, it can be great fun, too! We not only have to pay attention to pronunciation, grammar, spelling and handwriting, we also have to understand English idioms. We can learn English well only in that way!
But all this is only a beginning and I still have a long way to go. I'll try my best and work even harder than before. I must speak and listen to English more both in and out of class. I must read and write more, too. I must learn English well so that I can work well when I grow up.

Reading Oliver James'Affluenza, I thought about what often happens at home. My 12-year-old daughter is in tears."I have so take a test tomorrow. I don't understand any of it," she cries out. After shouting and shutting her door, she calms down enough to go through her notes. The following dry I ask her how the test went and the just says "OK,I got a nine".
"Wow. well done!" I say, before she finishes with "But I never get a ten!"
According to James, this obsession with getting top marks has been a bad development, which encourages people to think of education in terms of work and money. To test this, I asked my daughter why she was so worried about her tests. She looked at me as if I was thick. "Well, if I don't get good grades, I won't be able to afford nice things like a car and stuff."
I was quite surprised, because I don't consider myself a pushy parent. But James suggests and it leaves students feeling failures even if they are very bright. He points to the Danish system(体制)of education as a better model. Creating happy citizens who have good social skills is seen as more important than high achievements at school or the needs of business.
For me, I cannot remember the last time I had to work out the area of a circle, recite a Shakespeare poem or grammar rules, yet I have lived a happy life. What I really needed to learn at school was how to make polite conversations, or how to avoid getting into debt or how to develop good personality.
This is in fact similar to what Oliver James really has in mind. And he is looking for schools where students are encouraged to find and follow their own interests, something more like Tongjon. Tongjon has been developed in some Korean private schools. It is quite different from the more rigid system of learning things by heart that is used in Korea, and indeed in many other school systems around the world.
As the Russian poet Pushkin said," Inspiration(灵感)is needed in geometry(几何学)just as much as in poetry ",and inspiration does not come from endlessly revising for tests or getting worried about them .

Street art is a very popular form of art. It is         quickly all over the world. You can find it on buildings and street signs from Beijing to Paris.

Art experts(专家) say that the movement began in New York in the 1960s. Young adults would use paint in special cans to put their words and other images on walls and cars        the city. One well-known street artist is Swoon. She        paper images of people and puts them on walls. Swoon didn’t start her career as a street artist. She studied art, but         time went on, she got bored with the works she saw in museums or galleries(美术馆). The people in New York enjoy Swoon’s strong and interesting
Street artists do their work for a reason. Some of them choose street art because it is        to the people. Some artists try to express their opinions in their works. Advertising companies also use street art in their advertisements because it gives the deep impression(印象)and energy. The New York store Saks Fifth Avenue       used a street artist’s design for their shop windows and shopping bags.
In today’s world the Internet has a big       on street art. Artists can show their pictures to the audience all over the world on the Internet. Many people,     , say that seeing a picture on the Internet is never as good as seeing it live. Street art lives with the energy and life of a big       . There it will continue to change and grow.

Every year several thousand people die in the car accidents in Great Britain.   And between one and two hundred thousand people are hurt.
There are rules(规则) to make the roads safe, but people do not always obey (遵守) the rules. They are careless. If everybody obeys the rules, the road will be much safer. How can we make the roads safer?
Remember this rule. In Great Britain traffic keeps to the left. Cars, buses and bikes must all keep to the left side of the road. In most other countries traffic keeps to the right.
Before crossing the road, stop and look both ways. Look right and left. Then, if you are sure that the road is clear, it is safe to cross the road. If you see small children or very old people, help them to cross the road. We must teach our children to cross the road safely. We must always give them a good example. It was a cold day, but the students from Prosser Middle School in Chicago were sorting through the waste when they found that their school produces 1,500 pounds every day.
Prosser is just one school that throws out nearly 4,000 meal trays every day. Counting all of Chicago’s public schools, the number comes to nearly a quarter of a million a day. That’s more than 1 million a week and about 5 million a month.
“None of the trays are being recycled,” said a teacher. “ Everyone agrees that it’s very bad.”
Luckily, concerns about the environment and health have made some US cities take action. Dozens of schools have begun programs to reduce the use of food trays in school.
These schools have also banned (禁止)some fast food, including McDonald’s. Instead, they offer students recyclable trays. They encourage students to sort out lunchroom waste, then wash and recycle milk cartons and trays . So far, the program has helped schools to save a total of 820,000 trays each week.
Jay Stream Middle School in Illinois teaches its students how to collect trays. The school has cut its lunchroom waste by two thirds now that students recycle their used trays instead of breaking them.
Prosser Middle School also sees the benefits of the program. Students have organized about 20 clubs and volunteer activities to cut down on cafeteria garbage. They now recycle 80 percent of the school waste. “ I joined the club,” said Erika Santana, a 16-year-old junior in Prosser, “because I want to make Earth a better place.”
