①这几年，喜鹊明显减少了，有人担忧再过些年孩子们可能连喜鹊也不认得了。

②1993年春，笔者采用路线调查法，从宁夏的彭阳到银川 400千米，在大约400平方千米的范围内只发现 50个喜鹊巢，至于喜鹊则更少见了，与 20世纪 70年代相比大约减少了 95％。

③原来群体数量很大的喜鹊为何急剧减少了呢？其一，因为喜鹊的栖息环境遭受破坏，可供营巢的大树太少了，致使 90％的鹊巢只得筑在七八年生的小树上；有的鹊巢距地面仅三四米高，极易遭受人为的毁坏及自然灾害；其二，近几年灭鼠给鸟类带来严重的灾难，许多农村用玉米、小麦拌制的毒饵撒于田间，虽然毒死了大批老鼠但也杀死了大量的鸟类。笔者还曾在一片杨树林里亲眼目睹到一只中毒的老鼠被一只猫头鹰捕食后，同归于尽的惨景。

④喜鹊又叫花喜鹊，喜栖息于高大的树上，经常在田野和村庄附近觅食，多成群或成对活动，5－10月间，主要取食蝗虫、象甲、蝼蛄、天社蛾幼虫、蝇蛆、蝉等多种害虫。喜鹊的减少，必将导致虫害及鼠害的大量发生与蔓延。所以，它应该受到保护。

⑤某地方志曾记载了"喜鹊告状"的故事：康熙五十八年春，郡人偶感疫症，忽传说吃喜鹊可治，群众争捕喜鹊，城里城外把喜鹊网罗殆尽。一日，群鹊到公堂鸣叫不已，并引官至集市，见市买鹊者甚多，才知道是有些人为捕鹊得利，妄说喜鹊能治病。而后，官府对捕鹊者严惩，捕鹊之风才刹住。

⑥为了不使喜鹊再告状，今天我们应该广泛地开展群众性的爱鸟护鸟活动，特别是注意向青少年进行爱鸟护鸟的教育，使广大群众认识到保护鸟类就是保护人类自己，形成一个人人爱鸟护鸟的良好社会风气。同时要加强自然景观的保护，要特别注意保护培植大树及茂密的高杆树，为鸟类提供更多的栖息之所，让千姿百态的鸟类得以繁衍下去，维护生态系统的良性循环。
