I have been trying to get sick．I don't wear a sweater when I should，and two days ago I walked in the rain without my boots and my feet got wet．But so far nothing has happened．Debbie once told me about a girl who liked to stay overnight in the infirmary（医务室）．She used to rub（摩擦）the end of the clinical thermometer（体温计）until it went up to 102．Then she'd stick it in her mouth and the nurse there would think she was really sick．

The only trouble was I didn't know the thermometer would be so hot．As soon as I put it into my mouth, I burned my tongue．Something terrible! I spit the thermometer out．It fell on the floor but it didn't break．I will have to think up a better way to get mother and father back together．I can't waste my time trying to get sick．
