I couldn’t believe my ears when I heard my name calling. I was chosen to play the leading role in the play，that was my dream. 　　A great deal of attention is being paid today to the so-called digital (数字的) dividethe division of the world into the info (information) rich and the info poor. And that divide does exist today. My wife and I lectured about this danger twenty years ago. What was less visible then, however, were the new, positive (积极) forces that work against the digital divide.

　　There are technological reasons to hope the digital divide will narrow. As the Internet becomes more and more commercialized (商业化), it is in the interest of business to increase the number of customersafter all, the more people online, the more interest there is. More and more governments, afraid their countries will be left behind, want to spread Internet access. Within the next ten or twenty years, one to two billion people on the planet will be netted together. As a result, I now believe the digital divide will narrow rather than widen in the years ahead. And that is very good news because the Internet may well be the most powerful tool for defeating world poverty that we've ever had. Of course, the use of the Internet isn't the only way to defeat poverty. And the Internet is not the only tool we have. To take advantage of this tool, some poor countries will have to get over their outdated anti-colonial ideas. Countries that still think foreign investment (投资) is an invasion (侵略) of their sovereignty (主权) might well study the history of infrastructure (基础设施) in the United States. When the United States built its industrial infrastructure, it didn't have the capital to do so. And that is why America's Second Wave infrastructure-including roads, harbors, highways, ports and so onwere built with foreign investment. The English, the Germans, the Dutch and the French were investing in Britain's former colony. Guess who owns them now? The Americans. I believe the same thing would be true in places like Brazil or anywhere else for that matter. The more foreign capital you have helping you build your Third Wave infrastructure, which today is an electronic infrastructure, the richer you're going to be. That doesn't mean lying down and becoming fooled, or letting foreign corporations run uncontrolled. But it does mean recognizing how important they can be in building the energy and telecom infrastructures needed to take full advantage of the Internet.

My grandma was the best cooker in th world but could make the most delicious dishes. Once, I just couldn’t wait for the Spring Festival dinner. As I was about take a piece from a cooked duck, I saw Grandma in the kitchen looking at me. Shake his head, she said, “It’s not a good time to do that, dear.” I apologize and controlled me at the best till the dinner started. You know, that was a dinner we had waited for several month.

Live Earth is pleased to announce the largest worldwide water initiative(倡议)in history to help fight the global water crisis. The Dow Live Earth Run for Water—to take place on April 18, 2010—will consist of a series of 6 km run/walks (the average distance many women and children walk every day to get water) taking place over the course of 24 hours in countries around the world, featuring concerts and water education activities, raising awareness and funds to help solve the water crisis. Jessica Biel, Alexandra Cousteau, Pete Wentz, Angelique Kidjo and Jenny Fletcher will lend their names and their time in support of this global event.

Water shortage is a major issue affecting countries, communities and families all over the world. One in eight people doesn’t have access to safe, clean drinking water. Communities in Africa, Latin America and Asia suffer 1.8 million deaths every year from diarrheal(腹泻）diseases and the death of 5,000 children each day due to inadequate water infrastructure(基础设施). In these areas, women and children are forced to walk 6 km (3.7 miles) each day to get water that is likely unsuitable for drinking. However, the water crisis is not only limited to developing nations. Adding to these existing issues, the effects of climate change are increasingly impacting both supply and quality of available fresh water throughout the world.

In 60% of European cities with populations greater than 100,000, groundwater is being used faster than it can be replenished(补充). By 2025, two-thirds of the world’s population could be living under water-stressed conditions.
