Parents are the closest people to you in the world. They love you just because you’re you. And they would do anything for you.
Like a lot of middle school students, Zhang Li has a problem. She and her parents don’t get on well.. “ I really want to be my daddy’s good girl. But it seems he just doesn’t understand. He talks to me but doesn’t listen to me,” said Zhang Li, a student from Grade Three.
Do you and your parents also have problems?
A study last year showed that 1500 Beijing families had the same problem as Zhang’s family. The children, 12 to 15 years old, didn’t like talking with their parents much. They weren’t happy at home. Of course, lots of other children feel that way. But you and your parents will be much happier if you can be friends. Here are some ways to have a good talk with your parents: find a good time to talk, like when you’re eating dinner, going out for a walk or watching TV. Tell them something you’re interested in, or ask them about their lives when they were young. They love to talk about that! Listen to them carefully, and look at them in the eyes.
If you try these ways, you will probably get on better with your parents.

The Internet has become part of teenage life. There’s a report on 3,375 students aged from 10 to 18 in seven Chinese cities. It says that 38% of them believe they use the Internet often. While most of them get useful information and use the Internet to help in their studies, some are not using it in a good way. Many are playing online games too much. A few even visit Web sites they should not look at. Bad things can happen if young people spend too much time on the Internet.
In order to help young people use the Internet in a good way, a textbook on good Internet behavior has started to be used in some Shanghai middle schools this term. It uses real examples to teach students all about good ways of using the Internet. Some students also make online friends. But if you are meeting a friend offline, let your parents know.
Teachers and parents all think the book is a very good idea. It will teach students how to be a good person in the online world. It will be a guide for teens using the Internet and keep students away from bad sites.

Now you’ve finished three years of English study. There’s one way to demonstrate(展示)what you’ve learned-take a test!
Do you have any special methods(方法) you use to help you do better on a test? How well you do is often a matter of how well prepared you are. Here are some ways to make sure you’re at your best on test days.
Go to bed early. The night before a test is not the time to stay up watching TV. You want to be rested and wide-awake for test day.
Have a good breakfast. Test day isn’t a morning for donuts(面包圈).Nor is it a time to starve yourself. Eat plenty of low-sugar, high-energy food to keep your brain and body working their best.
Be prepared, Make sure you have two pencils and anything else you were asked to bring.
Watch the numbers. Make sure that the number of the items(项目)on your answer sheet matches the number of the question.
Look over all the answer choices(选择). Don’t assume(假定)that choice A is correct until you’ve checked the others. You may find a better one. And it is wrong to eliminate(排除)any choice that you can see at once. You’ll have a better chance of finding the right answer.
Check the clock. Make sure you allow yourself enough time to answer every question and go back and check your answers .Don’t spend too much time on any difficult question .Skip(跳读)it and come back to it later.
Keep up with your school work all year long That’s how you get the skills you need for taking tests.
