My teacher advised me to keep diaries. I followed her advices. Happily it worked. Soon I began to enjoy talk to myself on paper as I was learning to express me in simple English. One day I wrote a short story and showed to my teacher. She liked it very much that she read it to the class. Everyone said the story was the good one. I was great encouraged by their words.

As a high school student, I like to talk with foreigners to practise my oral English but learn more about other cultures. There were two foreign teachers in our school in this term. They often go to the English corner so that we can have a chance to practise a language. I seize every chance to talk them. However, I sometime find they are not so interesting in what I say, and it’s hard for I to choose a suitable topic. I would like some advices about how to communicate proper with foreigners, and what topics to pick.

Dear Jim,

Thank you for your last letter telling me your recently news. I'd like to tell you something about our

school sports meet. It was holding on Oct.20, which was a fine day. There were over 1,600 students

and teachers attend it. Wang Lin, a student from my class won the 100-meter race. He finishes the

race in 11.2 seconds and broke down the school record. They were all very excited. The sports meet

was great success. That was why we were all making every effort to our class honor.

Although I was not one of the winner, I was proud of what we had done.
