Everybody staying at a certain place long enough needs to know where the toilet is . When I first visited the Divinity School Library in Yale University, I tried to find the 1 with words familiar to me such as WC, Ladies, Bathroom and Washroom, etc.I used all the 2 I had about toilets ,but I could not find 3 . My common sense told me that there 4 be toilets in the library, so I 5 trying Finally ,I found a door on which was a single 6 :WOMEN. 7 it did not look at all like a toilet, I thought it must be one. And because I couldn't 8 any longer, I had to try it .As I 9 the door, I was sure I made a 10 ,so I came out immediately. 11 what I had entered was a room much 12 than my living room in Beijing , with a 13 lamp by a table on a beautiful green carpet. On one 14 of the room, there was a very comfortable brown sofa. 15 it there was a mirror on the wall up to the 16 .There were two 17 sofas, by the side of the table. In one corner was a clothes hanger and in another 18 was a big pot of green plants. It 19 a big sitting room in a hotel .There was no sign of a 20 .But it was the only 21 place a toilet could be. Then I remembered that there was another door in the room , so I went back in and opened the door. And there it was ! I found it 22 ! The toilet room was only half the size of the outer room.It had only two seats. Then ,another question came to me :since it was impossible for such a big library to have only one toilet ,I had to ask someone about toilets. A ^Rest Room ̄is also a toilet. The ^rest room ^had only one seat ,and both women and men could use it by 23 the door from inside.

The term ^rest room ̄ is miles apart from the Chinese 24 of a toilet. Here at Yale, when I use a ^women ̄, I feel myself a queen. And when using a ^rest room ̄, I do have a 25 of rest, because it is clean and has a window with a beautiful view.

Once many years ago, I pulled a family out of a burning car somewhere in Wyoming. Last week I 36 a telephone call from a woman who could not stop 37 as she told me that one of the stories in my book had saved her son from committing suicide.(徭姫) In closing she called me a 38 .

That 39 me thinking about what a hero really is. Was I a hero 40 I pulled a family from a burning car? If so, how could I be a hero just because I 41 a story that saved someone¨s life?

Today I decided to look up the word ^hero ̄ in the dictionary to see 42 what it meant. It 43 ^a person who does something brave ̄. As I read on, it also said ^ a person who is good and noble ̄.

That statement 44 me more than the part about being 45 . So I thought about something very important. Say I was walking into the local Wal-Mart Store and I 46 to open and hold the door for someone as a courtesy (撰嘆) . As they passed me by, I said, ^How are you today? ̄ Most of the time that would be no big deal, 47 this time let¨s say it was for someone who was deeply 48 and near the end of the rope.

I was in such a condition after my marriage of twenty years ended. I was within hours trying to get up enough 49 to end the pain and misery. When I returned home, someone had 50 me a card in the mail which told me how 51 they would appreciate me as a friend. That wonderful card probably saved my life. That person, without even knowing it, saved a life and became a hero.

Similarly many children come out of the orphanages (溝隅垪) 52 a very hard and bitter attitude against the world, but the gifts we send them let them know that they have not been forgotten. 53 , most of them will never hurt anyone because of the 54 shown to them by those of us who cared. If it 55 , we will also become ^heroes ̄.

A group of graduates got together to visit their old university professor. They talked about the 11 topic! happiness. But soon their conversation turned into complaints about 12 in work and life.

To offer his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and 13 with a large pot of coffee and a variety of 14 ! plastic, glass, metal, porcelain(盲管), some plain-looking, some very 15 . The professor told his students to help themselves to hot coffee.

When all the students had a cup of coffee in 16 , the professor said: ^If you have noticed, all the nice-looking 17 cups were taken, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is 18 for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the 19 of your problems and stress. ̄ The professor continued, ^Believe that the cup itself adds no 20 to the coffee. In most cases it is just more expensive and in some cases it even 21 what we drink. What all of you 22 wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went 23 the best cups. Now 24 this: life is coffee, the jobs, money, and 25 in society are the cups which are just tools to hold and 26 life, and the different types of cups we have don¨t decide, nor 27 the quality of life. If we concentrate only on the cups, we will 28 to enjoy the coffee in it. So don¨t let the cups 29 you...enjoy the coffee instead. ̄
