My job was to make classroom observations and encourage a training program that would enable students to feel good about themselves and take charge of their lives. Donna was one of the volunteer teachers who participated in this 26 .

One day, I entered Donna¨s classroom, took a seat in the back of the room and 27 . All the students were working 28 a task. The student next to me was filling her page with ^I Can¨ts. ̄ ^I can¨t kick the soccer ball. ̄ ^I can¨t get Debbie to like me. ̄ Her page was half full and she showed no 29 of stopping. I walked down the row and found 30 was writing sentences, describing things they couldn¨t do.

By this time the activity aroused my 31 , so I decided to check with the teacher to see what was going on 32 I noticed she too was busy writing. ^I can¨t get John¨s mother to come for a parents¨ meeting. ̄ I felt it best not to 33 .

After another ten minutes, the students were 34 to fold the papers in half and bring them to the front. They placed their ^I Can¨t ̄ statements into an empty shoebox. Then Donna 35 hers. She put the lid on the box, tucked it under her arm and headed out the door. Students followed the teacher. I followed the students. Halfway down the hallway Donna got a shovel from the tool house, and then marched the students to the farthest corner of the playground. There they began to 36 . The box of ^I Can¨ts ̄ was placed at the 37 of the hole and then quickly covered with dirt. At this point Donna announced, ^Boys and girls, please join hands and 38 your heads. ̄ They quickly formed a circle around the grave.

Donna delivered the eulogy (疑簡). ^Friends, we gathered here today to 39 the memory of `I Can¨t.¨ He is 40 by his brothers and sisters `I Can¨ and `I Will¨. May `I Can¨t¨ rest in 41 . Amen! ̄

She turned the students 42 and marched them back into the classroom. They celebrated the 43 of ^I Can¨t ̄. Donna cut a large tombstone from paper. She wrote the words ^I Can¨t ̄ at the top and the date at the bottom, then hung it in the classroom. On those rare occasions when a student 44 and said, ^I Can¨t, ̄ Donna 45 pointed to the paper tombstone. The student then remembered that ^I Can¨t ̄ was dead and chose other statement.

A friend of mine met with a car accident in darkness. His legs were so hurt that he couldn't move. 1__ was worse was that he found he was unable to ask for help!his mobile phone went out of work __2__exhausted (喘勝議) battery. Nothing could be done but to 3__ in the cold wilderness, it was 6 hours later that day broke, and then the 4 of the rescue team.

It is almost 5 that he could stand the horror in the darkness for so long. Even more surprising was his 6 : ^First of all l I 7 my physical conditions and found myself not in danger. As there was no 8 to call for help, I leaned back in my seat trying my best to 9 the wound from bleeding . In this way I dozed┫鴉錚off. ̄

His story put an end to my regret for the 10 of an exploration that happened last year. A group of young men 11 to explore a mountain cave and got lost. 12 to find a way out in tile dark cave they were frightened and ran anxiously without a sense of 13 . Finally they fell dead in fear and exhaustion. According to the 14 team that found them, the place where they got lost was only about 10 meters away from the 15 of the cave. If they stayed on the spot when they lost their way and tried to 16 themselves, they would probably have sensed a faint light glowing not far away.

Don't you think that you can compare it with 17 itself? When you meet with difficulties in life, you are lost in darkness. 18 that it¨s unclear to you ye and you needn¨t put up struggle 19 . It seems to be a negative attitude, 20 a person who can do so much have foresight as well as a a great courage in the first place.

It has been my lifelong dream to play on the high school basketball team. Every day 6 the announcement, my brother has helped me prepare for the team tryouts. The tryouts were 7 last Saturday morning. Twenty-three students from my grade tried out for the team. The team only has spaces for five 8 . I know I worked as 9 as I could to prepare for the tryouts. I felt like I had done a good job at the tryouts, but I was still 10 on Saturday night and Sunday morning, waiting for the team list to be 11 . On Sunday afternoon, my parents took me to the school to see who had made the team. I was so happy 12 I saw my name on the list. It was so 13 to be part of the team.

When we left the 14 , my parents said we should go out for pizza. It would just be a little family 15 in my honour. They called my brother, and he met us at the 16 . He walked in with a big 17 on his face. He was really proud of me. My parents were very 18 too, although they warned me about keeping my grades 19 and making sure I did all my homework every day. In fact, they did not need to 20 about those things, because I would not only work very hard to stay on the basketball team, but also to keep my grades high.
