EVERY morning in the school dormitory, I am woken up by the morning bell along with the crow (問出) of the two peacocks, which are the most special inhabitants in our campus.

When I first heard about them, I thought it was so 1 to have two useless peacocks in a high school 2 I even planned a letter to the president 3 him to send them to the zoo. Yet after I paid them my first 4 , which was a week later, I 5 changed my mind.

That was my first Friday in school, 6 was filled by books and tests. My friend enthusiastically 7 me to the back garden of our school to visit the peacocks. I unwillingly followed her through the 8 and unruly (詞岱議) flood of busy students, and came into the quiet little garden.

The 9 silence and special fragrance of water and grass quickly entered (梅秘) my 10 heart, and brought me some fresh air. I walked to the cage of the peacocks and saw the two attractive creatures. "They are so 11 ."

Those simple words popped into my mind 12 I had seen peacocks many times in the zoo. I thought about the 13 of several famous poets and artists while 14 them peanuts and ice cream, and I felt a kind of 15 of nature and study in my mind.

Men are beings instead of 16 . Working like machines will change our pristine (嵎酉議) minds and healthy hearts. There was 17 reporting that a student at Fudan University 18 30 lost cats. I believe he did not graduate from our school, where everyone can hear the crow from the heavenly animals every morning.

I think nowadays, high school students need to go out to 19 our bodies and minds, 20 crouching down behind the piles of text books.

Look at the gold forsythia (銭婆), that's the spring calling.

My wife and I had just finished the 150-mile trip home from our daughter's college, it was the first time in our lives that she had been 1 for any length of timeWe wondered 2 other people had survived it

Later in bed, I thought of the time I started collegeMy father had 3 me, tooWe rode in the farm truckI, the fourth in a line of brothers, was the first of the children in my 4 to go to collegeAfter we were out of sight of the farm, I began to feel 5 The truck was slow, which comforted me a bitI didn't want to get to the city too soonI remembered how my father and I ate the sandwiches my mother had 6

My daughter's 7 was different, of courseWe stopped at an expensive restaurant and ordered fried chicken 8 we went to the dormitory, and my wife talked with the housemotherWhen she came back, she was 9 her eyes

My father didn't let me stay at the dormitoryA room in a private home was 10 and better if a student wanted to work his way 11 collegeBefore leaving, my father brought out the old book Belief that he had 12 so oftenHe said,^This can help you, if you will let it ̄Did 13 help? I got through college without being a 14 to my familyI have had a good 15 capacity(嬬薦)ever since

When I finished school, my father told me to 16 it^Let your first child take that book along, ̄he saidNow, too lateI could have given it to my daughter when she got out of the carBut I didn't 17 were differentMy father could give me only an old book 18 I had been able to give my daughter what she needed

Or had I? I don't really 19 now that I gave her half as much as my father gave meSo the next morning I 20 the book and sent it to her with a note,^This can help you, if you will let it ̄
