　　I live in a beautiful city．Many visitors come to my city because there are so many colorful peacocks(孔雀)here．

　　The peacocks live on the grassland of Dongfeng Square．They are given food freely by visitors．The visitors usually throw food to them, but they don't think whether the food is right or not．Some of the peacocks became ill, some even died after eating the bad food given by the visitors．

　　I'm sure most of the visitors who throw food to the peacocks really like the birds, but they don't realize(意识到)that they may be doing them harm(伤害)．

　　These visitors should be told that what they have done is very harmful to the birds, and they must stop doing this kind of things．

　　Perhaps we can build some small shops beside Dongfeng Square to sell peacock food．For us, it's our duty to give love to these beautiful birds and to look after them carefully．

Thanksgiving Day

　　The fourth Thursday of November is Thanksgiving Day．It is a holiday in the USA．Usually, family members and friends get together for a dinner．People sometimes drive their cars a long way for a family reunion(团聚)．Many people also take Friday off and make it a long weekend holiday, because most Americans do not work on Saturdays and Sundays．

　　Thanksgiving Day began in 1621, when the first English settlers(定居者)reached the New World．They did not have enough food．But the American Indians helped the

white men and taught them how to farm．

　　In the autumn after the English settlers came to America, they had a good harvest．They were so happy．They decided(决定)to ask their Indian friends to have a dinner to thank them for their help and to thank God．
