The most important festival in China is the Spring Festival.It falls on the last day of the lunar year（阴历）and lasts（延续） until the Lantern Festival（元宵节）. On New Year's Eve,people usually cook lots of good dishes. Then the whole familysits around the table, feasting（欢宴）and welcoming the firstday of the new year.
When the clock strikes twelve at midnight, people greet one another with "Happy New Year" and go out into the open（室外）to watch all kinds of fireworks（烟火爆竹）. Parents usually put a red paper packet（包） under their children's pillows（枕头）.Inside the packet is some money. That means the child is already one year older.
On the first day of the new year, people go to visit their parents, relatives（亲戚）and friends with some presents. The Spring Festival lasts half a month until the Lantern Festival comes.
