If you asked high school girls to name their favorite sports, most would probably say basketball or volleyball. I happen to be one of the few girls who would    1   :surfing(喝惜塰強). But isn¨t that a boy thing? Some people    2    . Most certainly not.

I started surfing about five years ago and    3     in love with the sport on the very first day. Riding that first   4     was the best feeling I had ever experienced.

When I try to   5    surfing with other things, I find it very difficult because, in my

6   there¨s nothing like it. It involves(韮膚欺)body, 7    , and soul. There¨s sand between my toes and cool, salt water all   8     us. The feeling I get when I¨m surfing across that    9    , becoming one with the    10    , is like I¨m weightless.

The one thing I can   11     from surfing and not any other sport is endless challenge(薬媾). You can never be the ^best surfer ̄ because the ocean    12     an uncountable variety of waves that nobody can ever master. The variations of surfing styles are wonderful. Some surfers are free and flowing; others are very aggressive(試埔嗤薦議)and 13    . All of these things attract me to surfing and make it    14     from any other sport.

I¨ve 15     to tell every girl I know to do something that people don¨t think girls can do. It's part of being human to advance to new    16    , so shouldn't it be expected that girls should step up and start    17     the limits of things boys and men used to dominate(麼墸)?

There¨re women 18     side by side with the President of our country, so why not side by side with the boys   19    the football team or out in the water surfing? Give girls a chance to    20    , and they will.

One of the most important 2 of a schoolboy's life is to get as much knowledge and sound mind training as he canHis main business in school is to learnHe has to read the books he is 3 in the classesHe has to do the homework 4 to him

Another part that forms a schoolboy's life is the disciplineAt school there are strict rules to be 5 He has to learn to 6 these rules or the should get punishedThis strict disciple is very good for him when he enters the society to earn a 7 It teaches him some very necessary virtues for the road to a successful lifeObedience, diligence, regularity, punctuality, forbearance, and good manners are the essential virtues of the school discipline and of a man 8 success

School is a place for a schoolboy to learn what the social life is 9 For in the classroom and on the playground, he has 10 with his fellows and not members of his familyHe cannot behave as he 11 in his homeHe is no longer a spoilt child, and his school fellow will not obey his wishesHe soon gets his corners rubbed 12 and learns the lessons of give-and-take, good manners, and thought for otherThat is also the 13 when he has to carry himself in society

A schoolboy's life has its interesting and healthy 14 Games and physical exercise not only make him strong, but also teach him how to work with others in the 15 of team work

CLOZE TEST

In recent years many countries of the world have been faced with the problem of how to make their workers more productiveSome experts say the 1 is to make jobs more varied(謹劔議)But do more varied jobs 2 greater productivity? There is evidence to suggest that 3 variety certainly makes the worker's life more enjoyable, it doesn't 4 make him work harderAs far as increasing productivity is concerned, then, 5 is not an important factor

Other experts feel that giving the worker 6 to do his job in his own way is important, and there is no doubt that this is trueThe 7 is that this kind of freedom can't easily be given in the modern factory with its complicated(鹸墫議)machinery which must be used in a 8 wayThus while freedom of choice may be important, there is usually very little that can be done to 9 it

Another important 10 is how much each worker 11 to the product he is makingIn most factories the worker 12 only one small part of the productSome car factories are now 13 with having many small production lines rather than one large one, so that each worker contributes more to the production of the cars on his 14 It would seem that not only is degree of worker contribution an important factor 15 it is one we can do something about

To what 16 does more money lead to greater productivity? The workers themselves certainly think this is 17 But perhaps they want more money only because the work they do is so boring 18 just lets them enjoy their spare time moreA 19 argument may explain demands for shorter working hoursPerhaps if we 20 making their jobs more interesting, they will neither want more money, nor will shorter working hours be so important to them
