To most of us, 5 are considered very important, but we need to make it clear in our minds what kind of friendship we want. Are they to be close or 6 at arm’s length? Do we want to 7 ourselves or do we want to walk on surface? For some people, many friendships on the surface are 8 enough and that’s all right. But at some point we need to make sure that our 9 are the same as our friends’ expectations. The sharing of 10 experiences including our tears as well as our dark dreams is the surest way to 11 friendships. But it must be undertaken(进行)slowly and 12 only if there are signs of interest and action 13 .
What are some of the 14 of friendship? Culture shock is a complex topic, but I'm a simple man with simple perspectives. So my experience of foreign culture boils down to three basic stages:anger, acceptance and appreciation.
When I 1 my life in China I was often filled with frustration and 2 over the way things were.Things were seen as clearly “ 3 ” and I rejected the view of there being other ways of doing things.Afterwards I came to 4 different ways of doing things 5 still saw my own ways as superior.
My views were still heavily colored by 6 and I often accepted situations I felt 7 by simply coining the phrase "That's China," 8 China was a backward country that simply didn't do things correctly. Finally, 9 , I came to understand and appreciate the new 10 and ways of doing things, sometimes using them as effectively as the 11 .
For example, fish is never 12 with the head in my country, thus my feelings went from “Ugh! I can’t eat this! The fish is 13 at me saying, `You're a 14 man.' Take this off the table,” to “I’ll let my friends enjoy, but I'll just stick with the other 15 ,” and to "Would anyone mind if I eat the eyeball?"
It is not the same with every westerner, and some take 16 than others to go through the three stages. It all depends on how 17 you are and how tightly you 18 to your own culture. It took a little over a year of living in China 19 I finally appreciate the new culture. Now, I'm more 20 in China than in my own country.

Woz and I started Apple in my parents garage when I was 20.We worked hard, and in 10 years Apple had 1 from just the two of us in a 2 into a $2 billion company with over 4000 employees. We had just 3 our finest creation - the Macintosh - a year earlier, and I had just turned 30.And then I got fired. How can you get fired from a company you 4 ? Well, as Apple grew we 5 someone who I thought was very talented to 6 the company with me, and for the first year or so things went well. But then our visions of the future began to diverge(分歧)and 7 we had a falling out. When we did, our Board of Directors 8 with him.So at 30 I was out.And very publicly out. 9 had been the focus of my entire adult life was gone, and it was devastating(毁灭性的).
I really didn't know what to do for a few months.I met with David Packard and Bob Noyce and tried to 10 for screwing up so badly.I was a very public failure, and I even thought about running away from the valley. But something slowly began to 11 on me-I still loved what I did.The turn of events at Apple had not changed that one bit.I had been 12 , but I was still in love. And so I decided to start over.

I'm pretty sure 17 of this would have happened if I hadn't been fired from Apple. It was 18 tasting medicine, but I guess the patient needed it.Don't lose 19 .I'm convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved what I did.If you haven't found it yet, keep looking.Don't 20 .As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it.And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on.So keep looking until you find it.-By Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple Computer

Sneaker is a kind of shoe worn by many people all over the world. Some say that the word “sneaker” is another word for tennis shoe, 1 no one really knows where the word came from. 2 say it came from the old English verb “sneak”, which 3 to move silently and quickly. The only thing we are 4 is that when you put on a pair of sneakers, you 5 light-hearted, light-footed and ready to play.
Sneakers of some kind are used by 6 who play tennis, basketball, and other sports.New design has been made 7 for people who run slowly. But perhaps sneakers are 8 used by children in the United States. In fact American children of 9 ages would much rather play in sneakers than anything else, except perhaps 10 at all.
New York City once held a poetry contest(诗歌比赛)for children. The subject was only “sneaker”.Thousands of children sent in their 11 and praised the sneakers they love. One prize winner called 12 poem “The Sneaker and the World Peace”.“When everyone is wearing sneakers, ” she said, “it will be impossible to 13 .”
American school children can be seen every day 14 sneakers of all colors. They put them on in the morning and take them off 15 .Sneakers are 16 washed. In fact the older and dirtier they are, the 17 lovable they are. When their sneakers wear out(穿破), children hate to throw them off.How do you explain the closeness between 18 ? Perhaps another young 19 in the New York Poetry Contest said it best.“A shoe is just a shoe, ” he said.“But a sneaker is a 20 .”

Serious Business
Let me take you 1 a couple of years.Come with me as we relearn a lesson, one that has stuck with me, in my present memory, and 2 me yet.
We walked into Elida Road Hardware, an old-fashioned hardware store. No automatic door, not a computer in the building. It was one that I went to fairly often. As we entered the door, two sounds 3 us.The sleigh bells of last year made that sweet, peaceful tinkle as we opened the door. The other sound was the electronic beeper that reminded Andy of our 4 .
"Good afternoon, Ryan," 5 the cheerful greeting.Andy was a very 6 sort of owner. He was of medium build and height, and the smile on his face welcomed us.
We walked across the old wood floor.Andy asked us what he could help us with.I told him we were 7 a spring. He very patiently replied, "I have lots of springs. You're going to need to be more 8 ."
"Just a spring for an old-fashioned screen door."
"That's it.A screen door spring.Right down there." We 9 where he was pointing, and sure enough, there they were.Andy knew his store, and his products. That was why I came here instead of Meijer. The service couldn't be beaten. The price -Yes.But service and 10 -No.
I picked up one and followed him to the 11 .
He 12 the price, doing the math in his head."$ 1.88, with tax:comes to $ 1.99."
"Put it on my dad's account."
He nodded and smiled, "Good dad's account." He laughed."I don't know what you boys would do 13 dad's account!"
He handed me the ticket and as I 14 it I asked, "You really trust my signature?"
His reply surprised, 15 delighted me."When I can't trust Jerry Hoover's boys I can trust nobody!"
We left, and the brain 16 started to forget things, in order of importance. But what Andy said that day rang in my ears. And it rings in my ears today. That's a tall order to live up to.It's a high standard of 17 .My father made a fame for that name, and I get to 18 the benefits. But on account of this, I must 19 that fame. And that's 20 business.

Have you ever heard of cryosurgery? Cryosurgery involves freezing tissues to extremely cool temperatures. It is a procedure in which 1 body tissues are destroyed by 2 them to extremely cold temperatures. The temperatures used range from -150℃to absolute zero. The surgical procedure freezes unhealthy tissue, and the freezing destroys the 3 .For external injuries, liquid nitrogen(氮), which has a temperature of -196℃, is applied 4 to the cells. For 5 tumors(肿瘤), liquid nitrogen is circulated 6 an instrument called a cryoprobe(冷冻探针), a low-temperature scalpel or probe cooled by liquid nitrogen.
How does cryosurgery destroy cells? The ice created by the liquid nitrogen will destroy nearly all cells it 7 in contact with.As ice forms around a cell, the free water inside the cell is 8 .This causes the cell to shrink and the walls or membranes inside the cell to collapse.Poisonous proteins or chemicals within the cell are released. 9 , as the ice around shrunken cells begins to 10 , large amounts of free water rush back inside the cells, causing them to burst. The dead cells are then removed through normal 11 process.
How well does cryosurgery work? The 12 has proved successful in removing hemorrhoids some tumors.Cryosurgery may be used 13 to remove freckles(for cosmetic reasons)and to treat some skin cancers. It is also used in the treatment of bone cancer to freeze internal bone cavities.Cryosurgery has evolved from the 14 attempts to freeze tissue with a salt-ice mixture in the 1850s to the complicated cryoprobe method used today.Despite its success, side effects from cryosurgery tend to be worse if it is done in men who have already had radiation 15 , and therefore this kind of new surgery is not fit for everyone.
