Summer is just around the corner, and here are a few America’s hottest places to cool off.

A.Glenwood Springs:Visitors to Glenwood Springs can cool down in an exciting rush thanks to a lot of whitewater rapids in the area.Thrill-seekers can join rafting guides on wild rides.Either way, the chilly spray(水花)from the river is the answer to a hot and dry Colorado summer.

B.Santa Cruz:The surfing life made cool by the Beach Boys awaits travelers in the laid-back(悠闲)college town of Santa Cruz, just 75 miles south of San Francisco.Year-round enthusiasts can be seen riding waves.Another Santa Cruz favorite is the beachfront boardwalk. For as little as $ 1.50, visitors can also ride the Giant Dipper, one of the last wooden roller coasters.

C.Bay of Dreams Water Park:rain, snow, sleet(雨夹雪)or hail(冰雹)could befall the town of Wisconsin Dells and still fail to spoil the fun at the Bay of Dreams Water Park, the largest indoor water park in the world.During the summer, Bay of Dreams is the place to go for a wet and wild adventure. The jungle-theme amusement park includes rides to delight young and old.

D.Key West:The grandest pearl on the necklace of islands known as the Florida Keys is by far the tropical outpost(偏远居民区)of Key West.By day, residents and tourists alike enjoy Key West’s aquatic(水上的)activities, including fishing and boating.By night, Key West comes alive.Street performers pour onto Mallory Dock to entertain the dozens who gather to watch the sunset.Sidewalk cafes, outdoor bars and open-air night-clubs are also busy.

E.Discovery Cove:Discovery Cove, opened in July, 2000, welcomes anyone aged 6 to 96 to swim, feed, pet, cuddle(搂抱)and play with these Atlantic bottlenose dolphins, and all kinds of fish.Sharks and barracudas add to the mix, though they are safely kept behind a thick wall of glass.

F.Lake Mead National Recreational Area:a desert oasis(绿洲)became reality when the Hoover Dam was completed in 1935, giving birth to Lake Mead-one of the largest man-made lakes in the world.Almost 30 years later the National Park Service declared Lake Mead(and the ecosystems from the adjoining(毗连的)Great Basin, Mojave and Sonoran Deserts)a National Recreation Area.Today Lake Mead NRA hosts more than 10 million visitors each year, all who can take advantage of the area’s activities, which include boating, fishing and swimming.
