An old woman walked to a clothes shop. She asked the sales girl to let her to have a look at a new dress on display. The girl took no notice of her request and the old woman spoke to the girl again. Rising her voice a bit, she still received no answer. The old woman stared the girl and nodded to herself, “I'm very old to see well. I can't even tell a model of a real girl!” On hearing this, the rude sales girl shouted for the old woman. “What? Did you calling me a plastic model?” “Oh, dear me,” she said, “the model can say? Then, it must be a robot of a new type!”

There have be a lot of changes since World War Ⅱ. But perhaps a biggest change is the telephone. People no longer write letters for one another. They pick up the telephone. Every house has at least two, sometime three, four or five telephones or every office has many telephones. There were more telephones than people in American. My little house has three telephones. In the morning the first thing that wakes me is my telephone ring. Long distance telephone calls are very cheap before seven o'clock in the morning. So my friend in Boston telephone me to say “Good Morning.” If you have to write a letter, you simple take up the telephone and say what you want to say.

In order to keep my parents happy, I never went to Internet bars, dancing halls or other crowding place. I like reading books or doing my homework at home while listening to music. But when during every winter holiday, my home becomes a playroom. Many relatives gather here to play the cards. I am much tired of the noise the game makes, but my parents enjoy it. How I long at a quiet place to read books or learn something that they cannot get at school without disturbed! Please help me!
